PRESENT: George T. Todd, in the Chair Clare A. Balsdon William G. Newman William G. Lawson Hugh G. Michell The MINUTES of Council Meeting held on the l2th day of Apr£l, 1954, were read, and onoMOTION of Mr. Bàlsdon, seconded by Mr. Lawson, adopted. CARRIED The MINUTES of Council Meeting held on the l3th day of April, 1954, were read, and on MOTION of Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Lawson, adopted. CARRIED The MINUTES of Council Meeting held on the 20th day of April, 1954, . were read, and on MOTION of Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Newman, adoptèd. CARRIED The following PERSONS, on MOTION, were heard: 1. Douglas PIitz, applying for position of Assi~tant Assessor. 2. Delbert F. Goslin, applying for position of Assistant ~ssessor. 3. Mr. Poweii, Concession 1, Lot 9, asked permission to erect an extension on garage, which would provide sleeping quarters for his brother, who has lived in trailer at the rear of his property for the past five years. ' 4. Jack Hewson and delegation, asked Council to expropriate a right- of-way over the lands of Mrs. Hattie Moffat, of Bowmanville, so they would have an entrance tò the reâr of their property, as the front entrance has been washed away by the lake. 5. F. J. Prouse asked Council's opinion whether a Building Permit should be issued for'a garage in Plan 345, as such garage would be built òn the only four feet from the main residence. Council recommended that Mr; Frouse require a fire wall on the 'one side of the garage.' 6. Mrs. Williamson and others, of Frenchman's Bay, requested that a Municipal Garbage 'System be set up, as they are not satisfied with the present service as given by Messrs. Jackson and Irish. The Reeve appointed Messrs. Newman, Balsdon and Lawson a committee to investigate a Municipal garbage system, and report back to Council at 'their next meeting. 7. Mr. Mink, Concession y, Lot 1, asked that Council instal a culvert for him, 'áS'~Hé'órie in present 'use is broken. Mr. Ward agreed to pu~ a ne~'èulvert in shortly. þ ~~~...."~.,,..,. 8. Ed~ie MaHdnev; 'Hårweod Drive, asked for three Taxi Licenses. 9. John Usatv asked that his roads in Plan 434 be assumed by the Township. Clerk to write Mr. Usaty, requiring that all improper culverts in approaches to privatè drives be replaced with proper cu~verts, before the Township will assume such roads. Mr. Usaty agree~ to pay 50% of the cost of extra gråvel needed to br.ing the street to Council's standard. 9. William G. Manning, County Clerk; enclôsing copy of their By~Law ' Number 1781, whereby the Township of Pickering is assessed for $ 94,992.48 for the year 1954. 6. Department of Highways, advising that our By-Law Number 1981 for t 130,000.00 Road Expenditure for the 'year 1954 has been approved' in the amount of $ 112,000.00 only. ~ 7. Canadian Oil Companies tendered on Gasoline, Grade 2, 22.7¢ per gallon. 8. Imperial Oil Limited tendered on Gasoline, Grade 2, 22.7¢ per gallon. 9.
