An Emergent Meeting of Council was held on MONDAY, the TWENTY-SECOND
da¥ of FEBRUARY, 1954, commencing at the, hour of SEVEN œftIRTY o'clock
in. the evening.

The following CORRESPONDENCE was read:
1. School Section No.2. Notice of a School Meeting to be held
February 23, 1954, to approve $ 40,000.00 school north of
. Highway.
2. Police Report. July to December, 1954.

Fire Area No.1 - advising that the resuscitator purchased by
them is primarily to be used against suffocation from smoke but
can also be used on drowning victims. It will be available to the
surrounding area and our Police and others are taking direction
as to use.

Department of Agriculture, advising of School for Warble-Fly
Inspectors in March.
Department of Lands and Forests, advising that "Notice to
Hunters" signs may not be placed on Highway property.

Ontario School Trustees' and Rate a ers' Association asking for
membership at 15.00.
Mrs. Roberta Adamson, asking Township to lay a sidewalk on Fairport

Gordon Riehl, Auditor, was heard. He was asked to meeting by Clerk
to assist in striking rates and reported on his audit, recommending:
(1) Petty Cash Accounts. Treasurer, $75.00; and Collector, $50.00.
(2) Lodge Building Deposit Bonds with Bani.
(3) Bonding Treasurers of all schools, and Mrs. Spang, $10,000.00.
(4) Claremont Village and Fire Area 1 submit vouchers for orders on
Treasurer.
Peter Kaiser - application for position of By-Law Enforcement Officer
for North Pickering Towns~. He asked $ 10.00 a week stand-by time
and $ I. 50 per hour, plus 8¢ per mile for driving his car.
MOVED by Mr. Michell, seconded by Mr. Newman, that a grant of $50.00
from Township, and $25.00 Rotary Club donation be given Fire Area.
No. I on account of their purchase of a resuscitator. CARRIED
MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Michell, that application be.
made to the Department of Highways for grant on our 1953 Road Expen-
ditures which amounted to $ 116,970.65. CARRIED
BY-LAW NUMBER 1984
Dr. K. A. Roberts, seconded by Mr. Hugh G. Michell, moves for leave
to introduce a By-Law to amend By-Law Number 1978, and that same
now be read a first time. (Zoning By-Law for S. S. No. IB)
Dr. K. A. Roberts, seconded by Mr.. w~ G. Lawson, moves that By-
Law Number 1984 to amend By-Law Number 1978, be now read a second
time, and that the Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon~
The Committee of the Whole then arose and reported.

Report of the Committee of the Whole on By-Law. Number 1984 be
adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a Third time and
passed; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and that the Seal.
of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED

Mr. W. G. Newman, seconded by Mr. H. G. Michell moves for leave
to introduce a By-Law to amend By-Law Number 1965, and that same
now be read a first time ($16,000.00 Debenture, S. S. No.2)
Mr. W. G. Newman, seconded by Mr.W. G. Lawson, moves that By-Law
Number 19B5 to amend By-Law. Number 1965 be. now read a second time,
and that the Council go, into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole then arose and reported.

adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a Third time and

Report of the Committee of the Whole on By-Law Number 1970 be
adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a Third time and
PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and that the
