Reeve George T. Todd, in the Chair Deputy Reeve Kenneth A. Roberts Gouncillor William G. Newman and Councillor William G. Lawson. The MINUTES of the meeting on JANUARY l~th 1954, were read, and on MOTION orMr. NeYlDlan,. seconded by Mr. Lawson, .ADOPTED. CARRIED. (Yeas - Messrs Todd, Newman and Lawson - Nay--Dr.Roberts) The MINUTES of the meeting held on JANUARY 27th 1954, were also read, and on MOTION of Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Lawson, ADOPTED. CARRIEJ PRESENT : The following ~SPONDENCE was read :- 1. Austin Metcalfe of Whitevale complained about a dog owned by Mower in Whitevale (unlicensed) frightening local residents The dog has bitten people's clothing, but no actual -damage has been done yet. This complaint was suppor1 by ten letters fram residents who feel the dog is a menace. Clerk instructed to have dog picked up by Dog Catcher while it is off the owner'a property. 2. Mrs. Elizabeth Robertson asked that her salary be increased to $2,200. per year. 3. Township of Scarborough advised that they had a petition to lay water mains on Townline between Lawson Road and No.2 Highway, and asked if this municipality would be interested in circulating a petition in this Township so that residents on the east side of the Township would. be served. Clerk directed to ask Scarboroug1 Township if they would serve ,the south put of our Township - what area they could serve - the size of mains - and the guaranteed term of supply. - 4. F. J.. Prouse - Estimated value of Jabuary 1954 permits $46,500.00. 5. Res.olution of Frenchman's Bay Ratepayers asking that, after water mains are laid up Frenchman's Bay Road, a cinder path be provided for Children to walk to school. 6. Ernest H. Bartlett, Concession 4, Lot 7, thanking Council for thei] prompt removal of snow on his roads so that he could get to work as usual. . The follawing PERSONS, on motion, were HEARD :- ... . 1. Jack Bambleton asked that Elizabeth Street, north of Pickering Village, ~e sanded at the worst places, as a number 01 had slLpped into the ditch. , 2. Stan Fairbairn, Mrs. J. McPherson and Mr. W. Hough, asked that a re-adjustment of school sections be made in their ares so tha~ children would not be required to walk past . certain schools several miles to their own echool. 3. Mr. M..B.Burk, Mr. Daniels and Mr. Brown of Stouffville Village Council, having given notice of termination of fire agreement as of March 1st, 1954, asked that a new agreement be signed giving them $200.00 (Two hundred Dollars) per'year "stand-by" time; $60.00 (Sixty Dolls per call for the first two hours and $24.00 (Twenty-fc DOllars) per hour additional. He stated that certain prices had advanced but they were trying to hold at same prices as 1953. 5. Mr. Benham of Scarborough asked permission to erect tents, cabins and one snaIl 500 sq.ft. summer-house ,on his 46i acres in Concession 3, Lot 13 Pickering Township. - Council to consider. MOVED by Dr. K.A.Roberts,. seconded by Mr. -W.G.Newman, that the Clerk write a,letter to the Board of Trustees of School Section No.2 and request that action be held up on the purchase of the White lot until such time as the Council have had an opportunity to meet with the various Trustees of Sections 2, 3 East, 3 West, 4 West, 6, 7, and the School Inspector in regard to the formation of a new school section. CARRIED. MOVED by Dr. Roberts, seconded by Mr. Lawson, that the Clerk be instructed to write the Metropolitan Water Board asking if they will supply water to Pickering Township or a section of Pickering Township -.the gallonage available - what guaranteed term of service and the size of mains that could be used. CARRIED. , . MOVED by Dr. Roberts, seconded by Mr. Newman, that the salary of Mrs. Robertson be increased from $1,925. in 1953 to $2,100. CARRIED.
