PRESENT: George T. Todd, in the Chair Milton B. Burk Clare A. Balsdon Hugh G. Michell William G. Newman ~The MINUTES of the previous~meeting, held December 2, ~1952, were read, and on MOTION of M~. Burk, seconded by Mr. Michell, ADOPTED. The MINUTES of previous meeting, held December 12, 1952, were read and on NOTION of Nr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Nichell, ADOPTED. The MINUTES of previous meeting, held December 15, 1952, were read, and on MOTION of M~. Burk, seconded by ~. Balsdon, ADOPTED. THE FOLLOWING CORRESP0hrDENCE ~VAS READ: 1. Departmant of Industry and Labour, advising that Road men may work a regular eight'-hour day, but being construction, may work as ten- hour day if required. 2. Robert Campbell, Con. B.F.R.3, Lot~ 33, asked for a rebate on 1952 taX charged in error for 133 feet, rather than 65 feet. 3. Canadian General Electric, asked that Range Line between Ranges I and 2 in_Lot 35 be closed and offered free land for a new road appr.oximate!y sixty rods north. Hon. Dana Porter, Attorney-General, advised that he would not dissolve the Picketing Police Commission. 5. Township of Scarborough, advising that they have appointed Edward Waldock to act as arbitrator re our Union School Section 4 and their Area 2 adjustments. 6.. Workmen's Compensation Board, advising that in 1953 all volun- tary firemen must be covere~ by a $2,000.00 - $3,000.00 or $~, 000.00 Policy. 7. J. M. Mac!nne.S., Department of Highways, approval transfer $ ,137.00 From Bridges and Culverts to Machinery. 8. T~. N. Moore, legal description - l~ acres, Con. 9, Lot 22. 9. R. The Reeve asked Gordon Stevens, of Brooklin, R. R. l, to come forward, when Mr'~ Todd presented to him-a Life Saving Certificate issued by the Royal Canadian Humane Association for his heroic . work in saving the life of Clifford Reynolds, of Claremont, R. R. 2, in the Lynbrook pool on ,Tune 27th, 1952. The fathers of the two boys replied to the presentation. 2. Sergeant F, W. White, re police matters. · MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Balsdon, that when the 1952 taxes o-~bert Campbell are paid, a rebate be given him of ~13.~0, because in 19~2 he was.assessed for. l~] feet in e~ror, when it should have been 6~ feet. J. Fleming, of 0shawa, be remitted his ~55.00 purChase price, on surrender of Deed. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr.~ Burk, that ~ voluntary firemen ~-g assessed at $3,000.00 each by the Workmen's Compensation Board for the year 1953. CARRIED MOVED by ~r. Burk, seconded by Mr. Balsdon, tha~ Treasurer pay Township Uxbridge net amount of adjustment for 1952 for work on Townline. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Mewmsp, seconded by Mr. Burk, that the 1952 Police ' Co-~ssion salaries be ~ !~0.0~ each for ~ear !9~2. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Burk, seconded by Mr. Michell, that all members of Council re--~ve $7~.00 on account of their 19~2 expenses. CARRIED~ YEAS - Messrs. Newman, Michell and Burk ~AYS - Messrs. Balsdon and Todd. MOVED by ~ Michell, seconded by Mr. Newman, that Sgt. F. W. White e~--~id $37]60 mileage and ~2.00 postage for year 19~2 as School Attendance Officer. CARRIED AGREED that Messrs. Balsdon and Johnston see ratepayers in Broken Front, Range l, Lot 3~ re closing Range Line in Lot 3~ for Canadian Ge~eral Electric, and that Mr. Lewis attend Council meeting January 12th next. ~LERK'S INSTRUCTIONS 1.
