PRESENT: George 'T. Todd, Chairman ~ Mil~ton B. Burk C. A. Balsdon ~ Hugh G. ~Michell William G. Newman The following CORRESPONDENCE was read:- 1-. ~I~e Ontario Provincial Police, advising that they will not en- force our local By-Laws north of the Third Concession. 2. Petition of 23 names objecting to the closing of a portion of Dyson Rsad. 3. Fines - July - $274.28. 4- John W. Lehman, Claremont, applying for position of Constable. 5. Peter H. Kaise..r., R. R. 1, Picketing, applying for position of Constable. 6. Robert Masters,Brougham, applying for position of Constable. The following PERSONS, on Motion, were heard: ~ · 1. Messrs. Beno and Smith, of Squire's Beach, asking that Range Line at ~. Squires be graded and gravelled and Station Road ' gravelled, cost of maintainer and E~avel ~for their private road. Range Line is being graded this year. 2. W. C. Willson, re dog damage - Fred Gostick's cattle. 3. John W. Lehman, re position Constable. 4- Peter A. Kaiser, re position Constable. 5. Newman, that the Road Super- nt~dent be instructed to purchase: (1) One Transit from Surveying and Drawings Supply Company for price of $262.00. (2) 9~0 feet of 12 inch steel culvert pipe ~ $1.98 - $1,782.00 2 feet of 15 inch steel culvert pipe ~ 2.~;~ - 1~0~4.08 .................. 2,~3~.0~ Less Freight Allowance - 72.53 $2,763.55 · CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Burk, that foam cushions be or-~ed for Councillors' chairs. MOTION LOST MOVED by Mr. Burk, seconded by Mr. Michell, that position of Town- s--~-~-Constable be given to Robert G. Masters. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Burk, seconded by Mr. Newman, that Council procure B--~e, Handcuffs and Badge for Mr. Masters, with uniform in two months. MOTION LOST MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Michell, that Council procure uniform, billie, handcuffs and badge for Mr. Masters immediately. CARRIED - 2 - MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Balsdon, that Council ask the ~s'6~e Commission for the resignation of Police Chief Trinnell due to lack of enforcement of Township By-Laws and lack of co-operation within his force and with the Township Council. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Balsdon, that Constables Higgins and Channing's salary be in6reased $300.00 - from $2,600.00 to $2,900.00 as of January 1st, 1952, and Serg6ant~White,s salary, as Sergeant, be increased from $2,750.00 to $3,050.~0~ as of January 1, 1952. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Burk, seconded bY Mr. Balsdon, that the Police Depart- ment enforce By-Law No. 1832 re creating undue odours (burning batting boxes to cook swill for pigs) against Routcliffe on Con. Lot 29; also check on Eddie's taxi for operating without a license. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, seconded by ~Y~r. Newman, that no By-Law be prepared for closing of a part of Dyson Road. CARRIED CLERK'S INSTRUCTIONS L.' Find out time required for notice 'of dissolving a Police Commission. 2. Write H.E.P.C. re delay in erecting street lights 'on Harwood Drive and at High School. 3- Advise Mrs. Waddell that a d~ainage ditch will be dug from her street to last street. ~. Reeve . _ ~Clerk MUNICIPAL BUILDING BROUGHAM A Meeting of Council was held on TUESDAY, the TWENTY-SIXTH day of AUGUST, 1952, commencing at EIGHT o'clock in the evening. PRESENT: George T. Todd, Chairman Milton B. Burk C. A. Balsdon Hugh G. Michell William G. Newman Messrs. R. C. Reesor and CurreM asked Council to close sideline between Lots 24 and 25 in Concession 3 north of Dixie Creek. Council agreed to consider the matter. MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, seconded by ~. Michell, that Clerk write Mr. Minshull, asking him to fix the top off his well at Squire's Beach, as it is dangerous. The balance ~of the meeting was taken up with revising By,Laws for publication.
