POLICE REPORT Shopbreaking, ~ B.L.C.A., 8 Housebreaking, 5 Summonses Issued, 36 Theft, 7 Summonses Served, '29' Aggravated Assault, 1 Stolen, $200.00 Arrests, 8 Recovered, $50.00 Accidents, ~ Fines, $275.00 Juveniles Charged, 5 Number of Charges, 30 The Juvenile problem increases as the summer season advances, and we have had 30 charges in the Court during the month. ~The Trailer cases came up in Court; and all were withdrawn on the advice ~of the Township Solicitor, M. Grant, Q.C. on the uJaderstanding that they would vacate by July 1st. I have had several conferences with Mr. Grant on the matter and we are going to summons them each day they remain after the 1st of July, and he has asked me to see the M.O.H. with regard to the occupants and lay charges against them under the Health Act. The Police equipment consisting of a siren, flasher light and spotlight have been ~emoved from my auto as requested by Council. The .spotlight has been removed from Sgt. White's car and this equipment is stored at the Police office. One cruiser has arrived and went into service at 4 P- M. 'on the 28th instant, the other one is expected early next week. Mr. Walsh - asking to purchase road allowance at west end of Dyson Ro~d in Plan 27~. 3-John Brignall asking Council to have Rent Control removed from Pic'kering Township 4. Fred Taylor.- asking that his Taxi License be renewed. MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Burk, that the Road Superintendent Stop Signs to protect all Township Through Roads, plus more for roads that should be made Through Roads. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Michell, that the Clerk advise Mr. G. Plitz that the Township Road Department has more work to do than they can manage this year, and as Messrs. Jos. Connolly and G. E. Morrison have complained to Council about their road being unuseable, Council suggested that Mr. Plitz get an outside man to deepen ditches, culvert and gravel the road. CARRI .E~. As Tranesco have asked for the final payment of about $7,000.00 for Fire Hall Area 1, and as the Committee are not entirely sat~tsfied with work, it was moved by Mr. Burk, seconded by Mr. Newman, that a payment of $~,000.~"~-~ made on~ account and that the Committee, Council and Tranesco meet as soon as possible to discuss the matter. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Burk, that the west 209 feet o-~son road in Plan 274 be closed, but provision be made for grader turning. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Michell, .that Building Inspector ge-~-~ermit and deposit from owner of Trailer in Concession 3, Lot 18. White, Con- s-~es HiggiUs and Channing's salaries be increased $125.00 per year as of January l, 1952, the same as other Township employees. MOVED by Mr. Burk, seconded by Mr. Newman, that Nurse Mrs. Goudy be h r~'to assist our Public Health Nurse one-half days for month of September, October, November, at $5.00 per part day. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Burk, seconded b~y Mr. Michell, that Mr. C. Balsdon nv~tigate Thomas Watson 'for a Taxi License and if favourable, License be granted. CARRIED ~(Papers please do not 'print) MOVED by Mr. Bu~k, seconded by ~Mr. Michell, that Road Department o~-6-'~--four fifty foot ro~ls of snow fence to Lions Club at Rouge~ that same be picked up 'and returned to the gravel pit by them, and that they pay f~r any damage. AGREED that Taxi License be refused Fred Taylor because of amre'ars 'o~ insurance. Cyril Morley explained a Hospitalization Plan for Township employees. CLERK' S INSTRUCTIONS 1. Send V. Disney copy of M.otion requiring Police Cars to be greased every other week. 2. Advise ~. H. (1) Advise Bell Telephone at 36 Parklee B~ive, Leaside that Council hope they can continue to charge Police calls of~ the Sergeant to Polic.e office, as this system is more satisfactory to Council.
