HomeMy WebLinkAboutMarch 11, 1952 MUNICIPAL BUILDING BROUGHAM An Emergent meeting of Council was held on TUESDAY, March llth, at ~:30 P. M. PRESENT: George T. Todd, in the Chair Milton S. Burk C. A. Balsdon Hugh G. Michel! William G. Newman E. K. Jones and E. G. Baker were heard regarding a re-adjustment of their salaries. No action. A letter from A. Moss, Acting Commissioner of Police for Ontario, was read in reply to the Municipality's application to them for an estimate of cost of their taking over our Police duties. Mr. Moss stated that we would require 1 Sergeant ~ $ ~,200.00 i Corporal ~ 3,800.00 6 Constables @ $3,300.00 19~800.00 $ 27,800.00 plus two cars @ 6~per mile, plus office Chief Trinnell submitted the following budget for 1952. 1 Chief $3,200.00 1 Sergeant 2,950.00 2 Second Class Constables @ $2,8oo.o0 5,6oo.oo 4 Probationary Constables @ $2,400.00 9~200.00 $20,950.00 Clothing 1,000.00 Equipment 533.00 Radio 3,175.00 Cruisers Gas $2,200.00 Tires 250.00 Repairs 2%0.00 2,700.00 Office Rent 420.00 Phone ~00.00 Fuel 208.00 Hydro 120.00 Supplies 100.00 $ 29,806.00 MOVED°by Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Newman, that Council recommend to the Police Commission that they grant no salary increases to the Picketing Township Police for the year 1952, except that Constables Channing and Higgins be promoted from Third Class Constables to Second Class, with an increase of salary of $200.00 - from $2,~00.00 to $ 2,600.00 and that there be no additional Constables added. CARRIED vbY Mr. Burk, seconded by ~. Newman that account of $138.93 for Poli~ ers from Janney, Semple, Hill and Co. of Minneapolis, be paid. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Burk, seconded by Mr. Balsdon, that as a dog, identified by Richard Puckrin as owned by Clarence Crawford, was seen attacking sheep of Charles Puck~in on March 10th, the Clerk notify the Police Department to have dog shot. CARRIED - 2 - MOVED by Mr. Michell, seconded by Mr. Burk, that George Todd be a delegate ~-~e Trade and Industry Conference in Toronto on March 13 and l~. AGREED Spotlight on Chief's car be removed. Council, on Motion of ~. Burk, adjourned to meet again oh W~dnesday, March 12th at 10:30 to hear Picketing Village Trustees re water.
