HomeMy WebLinkAboutNovember 21, 1951 MUNICIPAL BUILDING B R 0 U G H A M A meeting of Council was held on WEDI~SDAY, the Twenty-First day of November, 1951, commencing at One o'cloC'k in the afternoon. PRESENT: Reeve W. H. Westney, in the Chair Deputy-Reeve N. E. McEwen Councillor C. A. Balsdon Councillor M. B. Burk and Councillor F. E. Zinkie. The following CORRESPONDENCE was read: 1. Magistrate Ebbs - fines - Oct. 129.38 2. Picketing Township High School Board - asking that High School Bus RoUtes be kept open. 3. W. G. Manning, County Clerk, asking that Reeve, Deputy-Reeve, Assessor and Solicitor attend a Hearing of Ontario County, Reach Assessment Hearing on November 29th, at 10 a.m. 4. Hydro-Electric Power Commissioner - advising that Ajax will not keep up street light~ from Ajax to No. 2 Highway, the Clerk to find out annual cost, then contact local residents. ON MOTION A. W. Cane was heard relative to building a Fire Hall for Area No. 1. He stated that they had called for tenders for a building 60 X 80 but received no tenders accordingly. Then the Board contacted Tranesco, who agreed to have a quansit building erected in six weeks and same was approved by'their Board. MOVED by Dr. McEwen, seconded by Mr. Burk, that the Trustees of the F r-'~Area submit a copy of their Minutes to Council, and on receipt of them that Council would approve the application of Tranesco to build a quansit building 40 X 60 for $ 6,~14.00 Plus Erection 1,200.00 6" Concrete Floor and Foun- dation, 4' 2,700.00 Insulation 1,550.00 Apron for drive and turning (25 x 4o) 55o.oo 2 gutters, cement for cisterns 260.00 2 cisterns, 20 X 10 X 4 1,300.00 $ 13,974.00 including Building Fee, and on firm agreement by Tranesco, Council gave their approval. CARRIED N.B. The Trustees are: A. W. Cane, Albert Hull, Terry Ryan, Harold Mitchell, Earl Taylor. Ma~bVa~ by Mr. Zinkie, seconded by Mr. Burk, that the Clerk prepare lot to be used by owners at the Municipal election on December 3rd next in the area from Lake Ontario to half-way between Concession Lines 2 and 3 and from ~ot 13 to Lot 35 inclusive, excluding all owners west of the Houge River on the question, "Are you in favour of a water system for the area as advertised at an estimated cost ~ of $1,375,000.00/?" ~~ ON MOTION of Dr. McEwen, the meeting adjourned.
