HomeMy WebLinkAboutMarch 23, 1950 M U N I ~ I ~ A L B_U.I L D I.N G BROUGHAM. An EMERGENT MEETING of Council was held on MARCH 23rd, 1950, at 7.30 in the evening. Ross Irwin and Cyril Morley of the POLICE VILLAGE OF PICKERING ~ were heard regarding WATER for Picketing Village. BY-LAW NO. 181 . Mr. George Todd, seconded hy Mr. Clare Balsdon, moves for leave to introduce a By-law to authorize proceedings to be taken to construct water-mains in the Police Village of Picketing, and that same now be read a first time. Mr. George Todd, seconded by Mr. Milton Bumk, moves that By-law No. 1815, to authorize proceedings to be.taken to construct water-mains in the Police Village of Picketing, be now read a second time,'and that Council go into Committee of the whole thereon. Hr. George Todd, seconded by Mr. F. Zinkie, moves that the Report of ~e' ~ommittee Of 'the whole on By-law No. 1815 be adopted, and that the said By-law be now read a THIRD TIME and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk Sign the same, and that the seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIEI MOVEDby Mr. Fred Zinkie, seconded by Hr. Clare Balsdon, that the Police Village Trustees of Picketing Village be and they are hereby authorized to enter into all agreements for the preparation of plans, securing water, and contracting for work to be done, relative to the proposed waterworks, subject to the approval of Council. CARRIE~ MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Zinkle that as Council have asked the Police Village to increase approximately 5,000 feet of watermain running from Mill. Street to the Station Road along No. 2 Highway from a six inch to an eight inch waterm~ n for future expansion of area outside the Police Village, Council grant to the Police Village $5,000. to cover the increased cost, J2- and that same be paid on completion of the water system and approval of all work by the Architect. CARRIED. CLERKtS INSTRUCTIONS. 1. Notify School Attendance Officer of Act in respect of~ High ~choo~ students absent from school. 2. Contact Auditors and advise that Provincial grants,are being held up to the High School as books not audited. 3. Advise Osterhout that we have legal advice and propose to deed easterly 33! ft of north half sideline between lots 26~and 27 to Henderson. POLICE APPLICATIONS were discussed and turned over to the Police Committee for elimination. ON MOTION of Mr. M.B.Burk, the meeting then adjourned.
