HomeMy WebLinkAboutOctober 21, 1949 MUNICIPAL BUILDING BROUGHAM An Emergent Meeting of Council was held on OCTOBER 21st, 19~9 at Eight O'clock in the evening. PRESENT Reeve W. H. Westney Councillors E. F. Disney and George Todd. Mr'. Bevis - Ontario Fire Marshal's Office Picketing Brigade - F.J.Prouse, A. Mitchell, V.Disney and Charles Law Brougham Brigade - Edward Jones, D.L.Mairs, W.H.Ellicott, and Ross Knox. Claremont Brigade - G.Constable, J. Norton and E.G.Baker. Mr. Bevis stated the Government regulations necessary for the grant, as set out in Section ~25 of the Municipal Act. The standard machine is to carry at least 300 gallons water and pump ~20 gallons per minute, and none of the present pumps comply. There is a grant on new Pumpers of 35%and 25% on operation cost - garage and water supply and debentures not to be included. Mr. Bevis suggested that we carry on with our present three Brigades plus a new one at Woodlands, each in an area with costs levied on the ratepayers of the respective areas. Recommended that all firemen be insured under Workmen's Compensa- tion Board at 1~% of 10% of $1,500. or $2.25 per year. Recommended that there be a Chief and sixteen firemen for each Brigade; no payment is necessary. MOVED by Mr. Disney, seconded by Mr. Todd, the meeting be adjourned. APPROVED: 19~9.
