HomeMy WebLinkAboutApril 26, 1948 (Special) Municipal Building, Brougham, April ~$th, 1948. A special~ meeting of Council was held in the Council Chambers, all members present. Also Mr. George Flndlay ef Central Mortgage and Housing Corporation. Mr. Findlay advised Council that his Corporation was prepared to pay the cost of all services rendered by the Township to the Ajax area since 194~ and to December 31st, 1947. Also his corporation was prepared to reimburse the Township for like services to December 3lst, 1949, plus polalbly 10% costs of administration. After considerable discussion it was moved by Mr. Burk, seconl ed by Mr. Disney that this Council accept the proposals of Central M~rtgage and Housing Corporation whereby the Corporation will pay The Township of Plckerlng:- - (1) Am amount of $~,275.98 in settlement of all cash outlay by the .coopt- Township to December 31st, 1947, for social services in the plant mca and housing area at Ajax. ;Ocial (~) An amount of $1,500.00 per annum~ in half-Nearly installments lervice payable ~une 30th and December 31st each year, to cover cost of the said social services including unemployment relief and secondary school education each year. Further that, subject to the Townsh~p's actual billing of the said costs, the Corporation will adjust the next payment to cover any amount by which the actual casts either exceed er fall short of the sum of $1,500.00 above mentioned. (3) That the agreement will run from January 1st, 1948 to December 31st, 1949, after which latter date the agreement will be reviewed in the light ef conditions as they appear at that time. Creighton, M.P.P., requesting him to make an appointment with the Dept. of Highways regarding the poss- ibility of their taking over the cross links between No. ~ Highway and the new two lane highway. Carried. Moved by Mr. Burk, seconded by Dr. McEwen that Pickering Ihitby- Township co-operate with ¥~ltby Township and secure an engineer 'lcker- to survey the south part of the Township, relative to the planning 'lann- of industrial and residential sites, and also zoning.
