HomeMy WebLinkAboutJanuary 18, 1967 COUNCIL MEETING 3/67 PICKERING A meeting of Pickering Township Council was held on the EIGHTEENTH day of JANUARY, 1966, at EIGHT- THIRTY p.m. ~ PRESENT: Reeve C. W. Laycox Deputy Reeve J. L. McPherson Councillors: J. Williams D. Beer N. Waller R. Chatten D. J. PIitz, Clerk A special meeting of Council was called for the purpose of expediting the installation of services to industry locating in the municipality. The matter had been previously and extensively discussed in Committee as well as in Council on January 13th, 1967. See Resolution 15/67. The Council was informed of the receipt by the Clerk of a cheque for $10,500.00 fran Canada in General Electric as well as recéiving the assurance from Go Transit and School Board School Area #2 that cash payment was forth coming. Because they felt that this meeting was not a properly constituted meeting Deputy Reeve J~ L. McPherson and Councillor R. Chatten excused themselves from the meeting. By-Law Number 3243 Councillor J. Williams, seconded by Councillor D. Beer moves for leave to intorduce a By-law of The Township of Pickering to execute contracts for the construction of watermains, sanitary sewers and private connections therefrom on East Avenue, Lawrence Avenue and Cheeter Hill Road and that same now be read a first time. Councillor J. Williams, seconded by Councillor N. Waller moves that By-law Number 3243 to execute contracts for the construction of waterlnains, sanitary sewers and private connections therefrom on East Avenue, Lawrence Avenue and Chester Hill Road be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The cĹ“mittee of the Whole arises and reports the By- law as read. ~ Councillor J. Williams, seconded by Councillor D. Beer moves that the report of the Coanittee of the Whole on By-law Number 3243 be adopted, and that the said By-law be now read a Third Time and PASSED, that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of The corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED. -2- Resolution 21/67 ~ MOVED by Councillor J. Williams, seconded by Councillor N.~aller, that the corporation of the Township of Pickering hereby protests the proposed removal of Pickering Station to a point outside of the Township's Industrial Area and inside another Municipality. And further be it resolved that the council does request to be notified at such time as the matter is about to be presented to the authorities~ CARRIED. Refer to tbe~tes of Committee of the Whole Council of January l3th, 1967. MOVED by Councillor N. Waller, seconded by Councillor D. Beer, that this meeting do now adjourn, 8:45 p.m. CARRIED.
