PIitz 8:40 p.m. ADOPTION OF MINUTES Moved by Deputy Reeve Ashe, seconded by Councillor Ruvik, that the minutes of November 2 and 11,1970 for the Council Meetings be adopted as presented. Chatten, that whereas every reasonable effort has been expended to settle the problems connected with the Chester Watercourse that Council explore the possibility of legally enforcing a solution, as recommended by the Standing Committee on Roads dated October 18,1970. Kruger, that the Recreation Director be given authorization to proceed with a survey of the additional Moorevs property acquisition and acquire quotes for the development of the Athletic Field at the Moorevs Road property, as recommended by the Standing Committee on Parks and Recreation, October 22, 1970. CARRIED Resolution #417/70 MOVED by Deputy Reeve G. Ashe, seconded by Councillor J. Kruger, that the proposal to acquire approximately 7.645 acres of open space abutting Wm. G. Davis Public School be accepted in principal, and that the Reeve and Clerk be instructed to negotiate the acquisition of the land outlined in the Appraiservs report on the basis of whether the land is available, as recommended by the Standing Committee on Parks and Recreation, October 22, 1970. CARRIED Resolution #418/70 MOVED by Deputy Reeve G. Ashe, seconded by Councillor J. Kruger, that the Council endorse the action of the Recreation Director in calling of appraisals for acquisition of park lands in the West Rouge and Rosebank areas, as recommended by the Standing Committee on Parks and Recreation, October 22, 1970. CARRIED Recorded Vote: Yes: Messrs. Kruger, Rudik, Ashe, Williams No: Mrs. McPherson, Mr. Chatten Resolution #419/70 MOVED by Deputy Reeve G. Ashe, seconded by Councillor J. Kruger, that the Recreation Director be authorized to proceed with the development of W. G. Davis Public School yard in accordance with proposal Number One of his report, and that such development shall not exceed $9,032.00. This is conditional upon negotiating of a suitable maintenance agreement with the County of Ontario Board of Education, as recommended by the Standing Committee on Parks and Recreation, October 22, 1970. Kruger, that the Clerk call for tenders for the demolition and/or removal of the old Brougham Municipal Building, as recommended by the Standing Committee of the Whole Council November 9; 1970. Kruger, that the Council of the Township of Pickering make a $300.00 contribution to the Kinsmen Club of Bay Ridges for the purposes of assisting this organization in financing its annual Santa Claus Parade and further, that the Village of Claremont be invited to make a request for a similar contribution should they plan on holding a Santa Claus Parade, and further, that this expense be charged to the Recreation Account and that the funds be transferred from the General Account to cover this added expense, as recommended by the Standing Committee of the Whole Council, November 9, 1970. Kruger, that the Council of the Township of Pickering accept the recommendation of the Township Engineer and purchase the property of Mary Lucy Pedrick for the sum of $12,000.00 for the purpose of recon- structing Sheppard Avenue and that the monies to .....Cont'd. - 5 - Resolution #424/70 - Continued 29/70 carry out this purchase be taken from the Roads Budget and further that the offer of sale be sub- mitted to the Township Solicitor for approval and finalization. Kitchen, that the Ladies' Group of the God's Full Gospel Lighthouse :hurch be granted permission to sell calendars to raise money for their Church. CARRIED Resolution #426/70 MOVED by Councillor Mrs. J. McPherson, seconded by Councillor V. Rudik, that the Council of the Township of Pickering endorse the Engineer's action in respect to enforcing the completion of the East Avenue Contract, as recommended by the Standing Committee on Public Utilities dated November 4, 1970. CARRIED Resolution #427/70 MOVED by Councillor J. Kruger, seconded by Councillor R. Chatten, that the Personnel Manager be empowered to purchase: - Model 455 Gestafax Scanning Machine - $2,186.63 - Cerelox Plastic Binding System - $ 627.90 And that he be empowered to purchase a collater with the cost not to exceed ~l,lOO.OO, as recommended by the Standing Committee of the Whole Council on Personnel, dated November 10, 1970. Rudik, that the Treasurer be authorized to pay the registration cost of the Plumbing Design and Inspection Course to be taken by Mr. H. Coelen of the Engineering Department and that a mileage allowance of $2.00 per week payable on a monthly basis as incurred be granted to Mr. Coelen On the understanding that the tuition fees will be refunded to the Municipality in the event that he should fail to pass the course, as recommended by the Standing Committee of the Whole Council on Personnel dated November 10, 1970. Rudik, that this Council provide a donation not to exceed $300.00 to the Claremont Community in aid of their annual Christmas Program held for the children of the Township of Pickering. CARRIED Resolution #430/70 MOVED by Councillor Rudik, seconded by Councillor Kruger, that the Pickering Township Council make representation to the Railway Transport Committee and oppose the application by the Canadian Pacific Railway on the matter of the Canadian Pacific Railway Company to discontinue its passenger-train service operated between the terminal points of Toronto, Peterboro, Havelock, at the Public Hearing scheduled for 10:00 o'clock in the forenoon, December 3, 1970. Ashe, moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-law Number 3902/70, to dedicate certain lands as public highways (Part Block ifOit and part one foot reserve, Plan M-7, being parts 1, 2 and 3 Plan ,ill 301 - Sunrise Avenue), be adopted, and that the said By-law be now read a Third Time and PASSED, that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto.
