Swan registers an objection, re e~tending the garbage area to the third concession, in charging a rate against the complete assessment of the property. Mr. William Newman, M.P.P., Ontario South, advises he concurs with Council's request to reduce the speed limit to 35 mph on Sandy Beach Road, Brock Road, Station Road and Montgomery Park Road, and has requested the Minister, Department of Transport, to reconsider the decision of these roads. Goodwin, an employee of the CorþOration under date of February 20,1970, requested that his pension credits with London Life Insurance Co. be transferred to OMERS; AND WHEREAS this request was misplaced and did not come to light until April 3, 1970; AND WHEREAS Mr. Goodwin terminated his employment with the Corporðtion on February 21, 1970; AND WHEREAS the effective date of the supplementary agreement with OMERS covering prior service pension credits was April 6, 1970; BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that this Council request the London Life Insurance Company to refund to Mr. Goodwin his contributions to their pension plan; AND THAT Resolution #294/70 be and the same is hereby rescinded. CARRIED - 4 - 21/70 Resolution #320/70 MOVED by Cauncillor R. Chatten, seconded by Councillor D. Kitchen that the agreement of Purchase and Sale as submitted by Warner and Jekabsons Ltd. for 1.114 acres of Township industrial land at the total offered price of $11,140.00 be accepted and further, that an 8% charge be made on the balance owing until the January 4,1971 closing date, as recommended by the Standing Committee of the Whole Council in Closed Session, August 17, 1970. CARRIED Resolution #321/70 MOVED by Councillor Mrs. J. L. McPherson, seconded by Deputy Reeve G. Ashe, that representation be made to the Minister of Highways for reconsideration of the road subsidy cuts so that the programme for overcoming road deficiencies outlined in the Road Programming Study approved by the Department, could be continued, as recommended by the Standing Committee on Roads August 19,1970. CARRIED Resolution #322/70 MOVED by Councillor Mrs. J. L. McPherson, seconded by Deputy Reeve G. Ashe, that the use of mortzene and discing of the Sludge Disposal Field be continued at an estimated over- expenditure of $2,416.00 in the Sewage Chemical Account and $400.00 in the Sewage Miscellaneous Account with the over- expenditures being accommodated by underexpenditures in other sewage account items, as recommended by the Standing Committee on Roads, August 19, 1970. Ashe, that the Medical Officer of Health be requested to meet with the Township Engineer and Planning Director to discuss problem areas in the Township as they pertain to developments on septic tanks and wells, as recommended by the Standing Committee on Roads dated August 19, 1970. Kruger, that the Recreation Director be authorized to proceed with whatever rectification that is necessary in conjunction with the Architect to dispose of the roof drainage at the Arena and to protect the building from frost damage, as recommended by the Standing Committee of the Whole Council on Personnel, August 20, 1970. Ashe, Councillor D. Kitchen and Mr. D. Bass, Parks and Recreation Director, in proceeding to Ottawa to negotiate with the Atomic Energy Board Chairman re the acquisition of certain lands from the Ontario Hydro for parks and recreational purposes, as recommended by the Committee of the Whole Council, August 24, 1970. CARRIED Resolution #334/70 MOVED by Councillor J. Kruger, seconded by Councillor R. Chatten, that Council co-operate with the efforts of the Ontario Municipal Association and the Association of Ontario Mayors and Reeves in their appeal against increased Bell Telephone rates and further recommend that Council share in cost of this appeal by contributing an amount equal to one-hal£ a cent per capita ($150.00), as recommended by the Standing Committee of the Whole Council in Closed Session, September l, 1970. CARRIED Resolution #335/70 MOVED by Deputy Reeve G. Ashe, seconded by Councillor Mrs. J. L. McPhersonÁ that whereas the Metropolitan Toronto and Region Conservation uthority has made substantial progress in the implementation o£ its Flood Control Programme under agreement with the Federal and Provincial Governments, and WHEREAS the rising costs in land and construction have made it impossible for the Authority to complete all works originally proposed within the 10 year time schedule, and WHEREAS a further financial commitment from the municipalities during the next five years is requested to complete all works originally proposed, and WHEREAS a complete report outlined in book form, the past accomplishments and future programmes, bene£itting the munici- palities within the Metropolitan Toronto and Region Conservation Area was presented to Council at their meeting of August 24th, 1970; BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Council of the Township of Pickering adopt the Metropolitan Toronto and Region Conservation Authority Project W.C. 63 - itA Project for the Extension of the Plan for Flood Control and Water Conservation" and further, commit the Municipality of the Township of Pickering to the financial support of the project as presented, estimated at $11,316.64 each year for the next five years, subject to change because of boundary changes due to Regional Government.
