HomeMy WebLinkAboutJuly 8, 1970 17/70 C 0 U N C I L MEETING A meeting of the Pickering Township Council was held on WEDNESDAY, the EIGHTH day of JULY, 1970, at 8:<10 P.M. Deputy Reeve G. Ashe. Chairman Reeve J. R. Williams Councillors - V. Rudik Mrs. J. L. McPherson D. Kitchen J. Kruger Clerk D. J. Plitz (Councillor C. Chatten - Vacation) A special meeting of Council was called to deal with two items of business which were deferred from the meeting of Council held on July 6, 1970 due to insufficient information on which Council could make a decision. PRESENT: Reports were requested from the Engineering and Planning Departments relative to the following subject matters, respectively- 1. East Avenue reconstruction 1970 - East Willow Gate northerly B.D.M. Associates Ltd. - Lot 1, 2 and 3, Block A, Plan 233 (Building Permit) 2. 1.. East Avenue aeconstruct~ The Council reviewed the report of the Engineering Department with the result the following resolution was put. Resolution #282/70 MOVED by Councillor V. Rudik, seconded by Councillor ~œs. ~. L. McPherson that the ~ender of City Paving in the amount of $60,607.50 be accepted for the reconstruction of East Avenue between East Willow Gate and 400' South of Ridgewood Road, subject to the approval of the DQpartment of Highways o£ Ontario and the Township Engineer. Associates Ltd. rhe Council on the night of July 6,1970, raised the question on whether the lot on which B.D.M. Associates Ltd. propoSed to build a new residence was suitable or not. A repðrt fro~ the Planning Department together with a sketch plan and photograph revealed that the lot was table lànd and $uitablé for the proposed building and that the building also compliéd wi th our Township by-laws. The only other problem was with respect to the eventual acquisition of this lartd by M.T.R.C.A, but sin~e Council agree they would not hold up development of ' this property in anticipation of the MíT~R.O.A. proposed acqu1øi~ tion, it was the consensus of the Cóuncil that the provisions' of the by-law be upheld and since M.T.R.C.A. or the Township are presently unable to acquire the lands, and the B.D.M. proposal complies with the by-lawj the building permit should be issued. l.t..- Ad.iournment Moved by Councillor Kruger, seconded by Councillor this meeting now adjourn to reconvene into 'Commit Whole in By-~i at 8:35 p.m. '.
