Council was held on MONDAY, the

Re:
Substitute for Head of Council
Dear Mr. Pli tz :
While serving as Warden of the County of Ontario, there
will be the odd occasion where I, as Reeve of the Township
of Pickering will be unable to attend certain meetings. on
Boards, Commissions or other bodies of which the Head of the
Council is a member ex-officio.
Therefore, under the circumstances, and as provided for
under Section 2l~ of The Municipal Act, R.S.a., 1960,1
would ask you to prepare a by-law appointing the Deputy
Reeve, G. Ashe to act as my alternate, to attend those
meetings which I will be unable to attend as a result of
other commitments created by my position of Warden.

BY... LAWS
By-Law Number 3955/71
Councillor R. Chatten, seconded by Councillor V. Rudik,
moves for leave to introduce a By-law of the Township of
Pickering to provide an alternate for the Head of Council
ex-officio member of Boards and that same now be read a
first time.
Deputy Reeve G. Ashe
Councillor R. ChatteD, seconded by Councillor D. Kitchen,
moves that By-law Number 3955/71 to provide an alternate
for the head of Council ex-officio member of Boards be
now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee
of the Whole thereon.

The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-law
as :read.

Councillor R. Chatten, seconded by Councillor V. Rudik,
moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole on
By-law Number 3955/71 be adopted, and that the said
by-law be now read a Third Time and PASSED, that the
Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Se41 of the Corpora-
tion be affixed thereto.

RESOLUTIONS
Resolution 131/71
Moved by Deputy Reeve G. Ashe, seconded by Councillor
R. Chat ten , that whereas it is imperative that the
Township be represented on the Executive Committee
of the Oshawa Area Planning and Development Study at
all Executive meetings, and -
WHEREAS the present appointed members, Deputy Reeve Ashe and
Councillor Rudik are not always available to attend'<¿-'-'.
these meetings due to other pressures of business,
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the following members of
Council be appointed as alternates to sit on the
Executive Committee of O.A.P.A.D.S. should the need arise.

ADJOURNMENT
Moved by Councillor J. S. Scott, seconded by Councillor
R. Chatten, that this meeting of Council now adjourn to
reconvene into Committee of the Whole at 8:33 p.m.
