CORRESPONDENCE (11) In letters dated July 24th. 1974 the East Shore Community Association advised of newly formed Association and their meeting to discuss M.T.R.C.A.'s plan to build a scenic route on the east side of Frenchman's Bay. 1. In a letter dated July 19th, 1974 the Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department, responded to the concern expressed by the Executive Committee of Council with respect to the safety of children crossing Sandy Beach Road in the vicinity of Sandy Beach Park. 2. Members of Council discussed the possibility of the Hydro and +-he Region incorporatir.. :1, Bicycle Path 1'Tith the proposed reconstruction of the Brock Road south of Bayly Street, which is to take place in conjunction with the expansion of the Nuclear Plant. In a letter dated July 13th, 1974 the Reverend S.G. CARRIED Resolution 200 '74 r.1O1~D by Councillor Spratley, seconded by Councillor Kitchen that the Durham Board of Education be advised that the Municipality will meet half the costs towards the construction of an all weather walk-way adjacent to their school site in Plans M-997 and M-998 as indicated in their letter! ~f P'.ay 31st 1974 and June 14th 1974, in return for the granting,of an easement for Sanitary Sewers purpose across the park adjacent to Glengrove Public School, as requested in their letter of June 24th 1974, subject to the recommendation of the Director of Recreation and Trapsportation, as outlined in his report of June 27th 1974, as recommended by the Executive Committee, July 2nd, 1974. CARRIED Resolution 205/74 MOVED by Councillor Matherson, seconded by Councillor Anderson that the Public Works Department be advised to construct a footpath in accordance with the report of the Director of Public Works dated June 24th, 1974, and that the expenses be charged to the Roads Department Budget, and furthermore that the said footpath be built this summer before the beginning of the school year in September 1974, as recommended by the Executive Committee, July 2nd, 1974. CARRIED Resolution 209/74 MOVED by Councillor Kitchen, seconded by Councillor Searle that WHEREAS the Town of Orangeville has passed a Resolution requesting the Provincial Government to remove and exempt the Municipalities of the Province of Ontario from the Ontario Sales Tax on all capital expenditures; and WHEREAS the Town of Pickering has been asked to endorse the position taken by the Town of Orangeville on this matter; BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED that the Town of Pickering endorse the following resolution: "THAT the Town of Orangeville request the Provincial Government to remove and exempt the Municipalities of the Province of Ontario from the Ontario Sales Tax on all capital expenditures; and further that this motion be circulated to all Ontario Municipalities for their support and that any Municipalities supporting this resolution be requested to notify the Clerk of the Town of Orangeville as well as the appropriate Ministry of the Province of Ontario." Robbins Construction Company Limited in the amount of $8,125.00 for Emulsified Asphalt, Slurry Seal, be accepted, subject to the approval of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications. Y-2, Pickering by Bramalea Consolidated Develop- ments Limited to Quaker Holdings Limited whose interest in the ~~~.r to purchase of the said property will be assigned on closing to 286202 Ontario Limited Trustee for Northdown Homes (Whitby) Inc., Balada Investments Limited, and Luco Investments Inc., all of which are in partnership and carrying on business as "Northdown- Arcadia Developments". This consent is subject to the following conditions: 2. An undertaking by Northdown - Arcadia Developments to develop this project as a condominium project; and Northdown - Arcadia Developments will enter into negotiations with the Manager of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering with respect to the provi- sion of financial contribution towards development of recreational facilities in the local community. 1. CARRIED OTHEF. BUSINESS Council asked for a report from the By-law Department for the next Executive Committee meeting on the situation whereby several Town taxicab licences were not being used as effectively as they might be. Concern was expressed over the design of the Brock Road and Concession 3 intersection and the obvious traffic hazard that exists as a result of restricted sight lines particularly to the North West. The Works Department is to report further on the design criteria used. The ~ßyor advised of a scheduled meeting on August 21st with the Town of Ajax and Metropolitan Toronto to discuss the two northern Sanitary Landfill Sites. Concern was expressed over the absence of a penalty clause in the revised agreement with Bramalea, whereby taxes would be paid should the developer not meet his industrial obligations. This question is to be resolved by the Solicitor prior to the agreement being signed by the Hayor and Clerk. Courcillor Kitchen asked that the Works Department check their records to determine whether the original negotiations for the Liverpool Sanitary Landfill Site included provision for restricted access to the site from the Valley Farm Road. The Clerk was instructed to request the Durham Health Unit to test the wells on Bayview Street adjacent to Frenchman's Bay to determine whether a health hazard exists. The Mayor advised that Councillor Anderson and himself had attended the A.M.a. Convention which had concluded that afternoon. . ",. """,",' - 123 - 20/74 OTHER BUSINESS (Continued) 8. The Hayor acknowledged the ,,¡in of the ,Junior Branch of the Toronto Wanderers Rugger Club who had won the Ontario Summer Games Gold Medal at Sudbury during the previous weekend.
