Special Meeting of October ll, 1988. m m(ii) DELEGATIONS 1. George Clement, 1907 Valley Farm Road, addressed mcouncil with respect to the Pickering Square development at the northeast corner of Kingston Road and Valley Farm Road. He stated his concern with respect to fencing and tree preservation and asked if ma retaining wall will be built prior to construction in order to protect tree roots and to control noise and dust. He also asked if the tot lot will be moved mto a different location and what hours of work are permitted for construction on weekends. See By-law 2802/88 m 2. Fred sturm, Secretary, Brandy Lane Homeowners Association addressed Council with respect to the mNotice of Motion regarding Brandy Lane Homes. He stated that the builder has not remedied the deficiencies of many homes and asked that an investigation be done regarding the homeowners' m concerns and complaints. 3. Ann Ray, Vice-President of the Brandy Lane Homeowners mAssociation, stated that the poor effort by the builder to meet the deadlines for repairs or improvements is an embarrassment. ! m m m 25/88 m 178 (Ii) DELEGATIONS - continued m 4. CARRIED 25/88 180 Resolution #226/88 Moved by Councillor Brenner Seconded by Councillor Mitchell DISSATISFACTION WITH WORKMANSHIP AND AFTER-SALES SERVICE OF BRANDY LANE HOMES FILE NUMBER - B 2310 Whereas the majority of residents who purchased houses from Brandy Lane Homes have expressed dissatisfaction with workmanship and after-sales service; and Whereas attempts to resolve the homeowners' concerns are not yet with respect to brick and mortar work; satisfactory, specifically Now Therefore the Council of the Corporation of the Town Pickering hereby resolves that the Toronto Home Builders Association and the Ontario New Home Warranty Program commence an investigation into: 1. the quality of workmanship, and 2. the ethics in dealing with purchasers of homes as defined by the Toronto Home Builders Association's Ethics Committee and that copies of this resolution be forwarded to the Toronto Home Builders Association, the Minister of Housing, the Minister of Consumer and Commercial Relations and Norah Stoner, MPP. CARRIED m 25/88 I 185 (V) OTHER BUSINESS m 1. councillor Arthurs commented on a letter he received regarding Timbers Brothers application to increase it igravel tonnage. 2. Councillor Morgan asked if a development on Pine Grove Avenue is affecting residents' well water. mo 3. councillor Morgan introduced the following Notice of ~ Motion to be dealt with on November 28, 1988: Moved by Councillor Morgan Seconded by Councillor Arthurs mThat Metro Toronto be requested to not dump building materials at the Brock South Landfill Site. m4. councillor Brenner presented a petition from residents on Hillview Crescent requesting that a by-law be prepared to prohibit heavy trucks. m 5. councillor Brenner requested that the Planning Department submit comments on a land severance on Woodview Drive. m 6.
