SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING
A Special Meeting of the Pickering Town Council was held on Monday,
January ll, 1988, at 9:35 p.m.

Pursuant to By-law 3714 {Procedural By-law), this Special Meeting was
called to consider the following resolution:
(I) RESOLUTION

Seconded by Councillor Robertson
OBJECT TO PROVINCE TRANSFERRING
AUTHORITY TO MUNICIPALITIES TO
REGULATE SUNDAY OPENINGS
FILE NUMBER - A 2300
That the Council of the Town of Picketing supports the City of
Toronto's resolution regarding its opposition to the Provincial
Government transferring to municipalities the authority to regulate
the closing of retail businesses on holidays and requesting the
Provincial Government to retain its present authority over The Retail
Business Holidays Act;
and that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to The Honourable
David Peterson, Premier, Norah Stoner, MPP, Gary Herrema, Regional
Chairman and the City of Toronto.
