HomeMy WebLinkAboutJune 15, 1992 (Special) 13/92 79 SPECIAL COUNCIL MINUTES 8 A Special Meeting of the Pickering Town Council was held on Monday, June 15,1992 at 7:30 p.m. This Special Meeting of Council was called to consider Planning Report 5/92 to authorize staff to undertake a review of the Pickering District Plan. PRESENT: COUNCILLORS: Brenner - (Acting Mayor) Higdon Pistritto Van Kempen ALSO PRESENT: N.C. Marshall B. Taylor N. Carroll T. Me1ymuk - Town Manager - Town Clerk - Director of Planning - Deputy Director of Planning ABSENT: 8 Mayor Arthurs - (ill) Councillor Johnson - (municipal business) Councillor Wellman - (ho1diay) 1. Mr. Thomas Me1ymuk, Deputy Director of Planning, gave an overview of Planning Report 5/92 and explained what would be involved in a District Plan rev"iew. 2. Richard Ward, R. R. #2, Blackstock, stated that he once owned 1 and in what is now i dentifi ed as Nei ghbourhood #11 in P1 anni ng Report 5/92. For the past six years, staff did not review the Official Plan wi th respect to thi s property. He stated that he is gl ad the pub 1 i c wi 11 be i nvo1 ved in the Di stri ct P1 an review. 3. Ni gel 0' Nei 11, representi ng the Landford Group, asked how thi s review wi 11 affect any current development applications. He also asked how this review will affect the projecti ons and current charges under the Development Charges Act. (I) RESOLUTIONS 8 Resolution #88/92 Moved by Councillor Van Kempen Seconded by Councillor Higdon That Town Council authorize staff to undertake a Pickering Di stri ct Pl an Revi ew in accordance wi th the pl anni ng phi 1 osophy and work program outl i ned in Attachment No.1 to Town Pl anni ng Report No. 5/92, and through this Review recommend to Council a new official plan for the Town of Pickering. CARRIED 13/92 80 Resolution #89/92 8 Moved by Councillor Van Kempen Seconded by Councillor Higdon That a copy of Town Planning Report No. 5/92, including Attachment No.1, be forwarded for i nformati on to the Regi on of Dur,ham, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, the Office for the Greater Toronto Area, the Royal Commission on the Future of the Toronto Waterfront, the Commi ssi on on Pl anni ng and Development Reform in Ontario, the Urban Development Institute, abutting municipalities, all Town ratepayer associations, and any others interested in receiving a copy of the Report.
