Higdon R. Johnson D. Wellman ALSO PRESENT: C.M.T. Sheffield B. Taylor D. Kearns - Acting Town Manager - Town Clerk - Co-ordinator of Council Services (I) RESOLUTIONS Resolution #152/93 Moved by Councillor Wellman Seconded by Councillor Higdon 8 Whereas, pursuant to the provisions of sections 207.45, 207.46, 207.47,207.48 and 207.49 of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990, chapter M.45, the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering has the authority to provide various forms of remuneration, pensions, benefits and insurance for municipal employees and retired municipal employees; and Whereas, on June 28, 1993, Negotiating Committees of The Corporation of the Town of Pickering and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 129 arrived at a Memorandum of Settlement proposing to constitute full settlement of all matters in dispute between them, and agreeing to recommend complete acceptance thereof to their respective principals; and Whereas it is desirable to accept the terms of that Memorandum of Settlement; Now Therefore Be It Resolved That: 1. The Corporation of the Town of Pickering hereby accepts the terms of a Memorandum of Settlement dated June 28, 1993 (a copy of which is attached as Schedule A hereto) between The Corporation of the Town of Pickering and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 129 respecting a Collective Agreement having a two year term beginning March 1, 1993 and ending February 28, 1995. . CARRIED 14/93 114 Resolution #153/93 Moved by Councillor Johnson Seconded by Councillor Higdon That the Notice of Motion concerning the Brock West Landfill site be brought back before Council at the August 4, 1993 meeting rather than July 26,1993. CARRIED 8 (II) BY-LAWS Councillor Higdon seconded by Councillor Wellman moved for leave to introduce by-laws of the Town of Pickering: By-law 4288/93 Being a by-law to authorize the execution of a Collective Agreement between The corporation of the Town of Pickering and Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 129 (March 1, 1993 to February 28,1995). By-law 4289/93 Being a by-law to appoint Patrick Pearsall as Acting Fire Chief for the period July 1, 1993 to October 31,1993. THIRD READING 8 Councillor Higdon, seconded by Councillor Wellman, moved that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-law Numbers 4288/93 and 4289/93 be adopted and the said by-laws be now read a third time and PASSED and that the Mayor and Clerk sign the same and the seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. (III) OTHER BUSINESS 1. Councillor Johnson requested information on the status of the development on Major Oaks Drive. 2. The following matters were regular meeting: considered prior to the a) The Acting-Town Manager reported on the fireworks mishap at the Canada Day Festivities. b) Councillor Johnson stated that he was in receipt of a reply from the Region Works Department concerning a request from Ms. Babineau with respect to Sanitary Sewers and he requested that this reply be forwarded to Councillor Van Kempen.
