Brenner D. Dickerson M. Holland R. Johnson D. Pickles D. Ryan ALSO PRESENT: T. 1. Quinn G. Paterson B. Taylor - General Manager - Director of Finance - Town Clerk (I) RESOLUTIONS Resolution #190/98 Moved by Councillor Pickles Seconded by Councillor Ryan That Report FIN 28/98 regarding the 1998 Tax Levy be received and that: 1) the increase in the 1998 Tax Levy due to Provincial actions regarding the payments-in- lieu of taxes be approved at $616,000 or 2,9 per cent over the comparable 1997 levy; 2) the Director of Finance & Treasurer report back to Council on the final recommended financing of the 1998 Capital Budget for the Town of Pickering, taking into consideration the foregoing, any previous relevant recommendations in regards to the 1998 Budgets, and the amount of capital expenditures that can be financed from the Current Budget. 3) the Tax Levy due dates for the final billing be October 30, 1998 and November 30, 1998; 8 -- - 2 4) the final instalment for the 10-month post dated cheque plan and pre-authorized payment plan be changed from October 1 to November 30 for 1998; 5) the Director of Finance & Treasurer be authorized to make any changes or undertake any actions necessary, including altering due dates, in order to ensure the tax billing process is completed; the appropriate staff of the Town of Pickering be given authority to give effect thereto. CARRIED (ID BY-LAWS That Councillor Pickles seconded by Councillor Holland took leave to introduce a by-law of the Town of Pickering: By-law Number 5392/98 Being a by-law to adopt the estimates of all sums required to be raised by taxation for the year 1998 and to establish the Tax Rates necessary to raise such sums. THIRD READING: Councillor Pickles seconded by Councillor Holland moved that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-law Number 5392/98 be adopted and the said by-law be now read a third time and PASSED and that the Mayor and Clerk sign the same and the seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED Recorded Vote: Yes: No: Councillors Brenner, Dickerson, Holland, Pickles, Ryan and Mayor Arthurs Councillor Johnson (fin CONFIRMATION BY-LAW By-law Number 5393/98 Councillor Dickerson seconded by Councillor Brenner moved for leave to introduce a By- law of the Town of Pickering to confirm those proceedings of the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering at a special meeting held on the 28th day of September, 1998 and that the same be now finally passed and that the Mayor and Clerk sign the same and that the Seal of the Corporation be thereto affixed.
