Celebre provided members with an update with respect to a meeting held with City Development staff and Infrastructure Ontario. She advised they had been provided IO with the most recent Council recommendations. She also advised that she provided IO with Committee’s recommendations, regarding 3215 Sideline 28, whereby the Committee requested donation of the property. C. Celebre noted IO is currently gathering information on the Class B Environmental assessments, noting another meeting with them is planned to discuss Council’s recommendations for designation of buildings. She also noted that a discussion took place regarding 3285 Sideline 20 and ownership of the lands. C. Sopher noted concerns that IO may create a case to demolish the buildings as a result of neglect, and questioned the next steps. C. Celebre noted that it was discussed with IO that if the buildings were sold to private land owners, then hopefully the buildings would be restored and integrated into the new communities. It was also noted the importance of making potential buyers aware of the heritage value of the property and what that means. C. Sopher also questioned heritage homes owned by IO on the Markham side, in particular properties on Reesor Road, on the south side of 407. He stated a number of properties along there have been restored, such as Whitamores, a Church and Cemetery and requested that staff inquire about these properties, and how they were handled by IO. 3.1) Draft Register M. Sawchuck provided an update with respect to the Register. He noted that the City of Pickering currently has approximately 15 designated properties, noting that municipalities are required to maintain a Register. He explained the process for listing properties, and provided an overview of the type of information the Committee is in the process of collecting. He provided the following suggestions when going to the sites;  Take photo and record the date  Upload to Flickr or bring in a USB to meeting  Some info is already available through old reports C. Celebre to action Page 3 Item / Ref # Details & Discussion & Conclusion (summary of discussion) Action Items / Status (include deadline as appropriate)  Choose a community type from chart on the excel sheet (i.e. hamlet)  Note the number of storeys, cladding  Not as important to note the architectural style, this could be done by members at a future meeting M. Sawchuck provided members with an overview of Flickr, noting all photos are in the order in which they were uploaded. He explained how to name the file by address, noting the road name first, then the number. It was also noted that it may be helpful to take a picture of the street number sign prior to taking the building photo to help identify the property. Members provided a status update. It was noted that once all the information has been gathered, the Committee can then meet to determine which properties are worthy of listing and/or designating. M. Sawchuck reviewed the criteria under Regulation 9/06 for determining heritage significance. He provided an overview of the 3 main categories used to determine placement on the register:  Design or physical value  Historical value  Contextual value M. Sawchuck noted the priority currently is to take the photos, the categories could be filled in later. He asked that members try to take photos prior to the next meeting, as the weather is good and sightlines are better with no leaves on the trees. He also provided the following suggestions;  Take photos on a bit of an angle as opposed to straight on  Leave a bit of buffer, don’t zoom in  If any interesting features, they can be taken straight on as well as zooming in  No need to document every angle of the building at this point Members reviewed the excel spreadsheet and properties were re-distributed as follows:  D. Hazlett will take all the 7th Concession properties from K. Borisko’s area Page 4 Item / Ref # Details & Discussion & Conclusion (summary of discussion) Action Items / Status (include deadline as appropriate)  M.
