SPECIAL COUNCll., MEETING
A Special Meeting of the Pickering Town Council was held on Monday, November 17,
1997 at 7:12 p.m.

Resolution #440/97
Moved by Councillor Dickerson
Seconded by Councillor Pistritto
That pursuant to Section 55(7) of the Municipal Act, RS.O. 1990, c M.45, as amended,
the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering hereby resolves to conduct a
meeting to consider a personnel and litigation matter.

That Confidential Human Resources Report # 11/97 be received and referred to the 1998
Budget Committee.

That Confidential Legal Services Report L 178197 be received; and
That the Town Solicitor be authorized to negotiate a settlement with the proponent set
out in the said Report.
CARRIED
Councillor Pistritto declared an interest in the above resolution because his brother
owns a retail food store. He left the room while this matter was discussed and voted
upon.

That the draft by-law attached to Confidential Legal Services Report L 183197 to
authorize the Release of a performance bond with The Guarantee Company of North
America be read a first, second and third time and enacted.

The Town Solicitor provided an overview of the letter dated November 14, 1997 ITom the
Director of Public Works to Everest Contracting & Engineering Inc. regarding Tender T-
5-97 for sanitary and storm sewer installation and road reconstruction on Dunbarton
Road.
The Town Solicitor reported that she received a request ITom Jim Reininger to complete
the Bonita Avenue park in the year 2000 but Council did not approve this request.

That Confidential Transportation Report #5/97 be received.

Seconded by Councillor Senis
That the proposals submitted under RFP- 7-97 be reviewed by an independent consultant
that has been approved by the Town and all companies who submitted a proposal under
RFP-7-97; and
That the cost of this independent consultant be borne by AES ProData Limited; and
That the said companies waive any rights to future litigation with respect to RFP- 7-97;
and
That staff continue to seek funding from the Province for the automated fare collection
system.
