SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING
A Special Meeting of the Pickering Town Council was held on Monday, February 10,
1997 at 7:00 p.m.

AUTHORITY TO MEET IN CAMERA
Resolution #53/97
Moved by Councillor Ryan
Seconded by Councillor Brenner
That pursuant to Section 55(7) of the Municipal Act, RS.O. 1990, c M.45, as amended,
the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering hereby resolves to conduct a
meeting closed to the public for the purpose of considering personnel matters.
CARRIED
The Executive Director of Operations reported that some firefighters wore their uniform
at the GO Station while handing out pamphlets regarding Bill 84 in contravention of
Council's directive. It was the consensus of Council that the Executive Director of
Operations send a letter to the Pickering Professional Firefighters Association to inform
them that they advised their members to contravene Council's directive and that
disciplinary action would be taken in the future if such a similar incident occurs. A copy
of this letter is to be sent to each of the firefighters involved.

CARRIED
The Town Solicitor and Manager of Building Services gave an overview of the status of a
Building Permit application submitted by Eastern Power Developers. The Director of
Planning was directed to ensure that a Building Permit is not issued until the final plans are
approved by the Site Plan Committee.
Councillor Pistritto inquired into the options available to the Town with respect to the
proposed closing and sale of a portion of Sideline 14 in Concession 7.
