SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING
A Special Meeting of the Pickering Town Council was held on Monday, April 27, 1998 at

That leave be granted to introduce a motion to oppose an application made by 1. & F.
Waste Systems to the Ministry of the Environment for a Certificate of Approval to operate
a waste disposal site at 57 Notion Road in Ajax.

WHEREAS 1. & F. Waste Systems Inc. has submitted an Application to the Ministry of
Environment for a Certificate of Approval to operate a waste disposal site at 57 Notion
Road in Ajax (Ministry Reference Number A680300); and
WHEREAS J. & F. Waste Systems Inc. has also submitted Zoning By-law Amendment
Application Z 20/97 to the Corporation of the Town of Ajax to permit the operation of a
multi-material recovery/transfer facility at 57 Notion Road; and
WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering passed Resolution
34/98, Item 1, opposing Zoning By-law Amendment Application Z 20/97, the Council of
the Corporation of the Town of Ajax denied Zoning By-law Amendment Application Z
20/97, and 1.& F. Waste Systems Inc. has appealed the decision of Ajax Council to the
Ontario Municipal Board; and
WHEREAS residents of the Village East Neighbourhood in Pickering, which is bounded
on the east by Notion Road, have expressed concerns about adverse effects on the
residential community which may result from the proposal by 1. & F. Waste Systems Inc.
for 57 Notion Road in Ajax;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering expresses
its opposition to the application by 1. & F. Waste Systems Inc. for a Certificate of
Approval to operate a waste disposal site at 57 Notion Road in Ajax until Zoning By-law
Amendment Application Z 20/97 has been resolved; and
THAT the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering, through the Town Clerk,
request that the Ministry of Environment not process the application by 1. & F. Waste
Systems Inc. for a Certificate of Approval to operate a waste disposal site at 57 Notion
Road in Ajax (Ministry Reference Number A680300) until Zoning By-law Amendment
Application Z 20/97 has been resolved; and
THAT this resolution be forwarded to:
