Brenner D. Dickerson M. Holland R Johnson D. Pickles D. Ryan - Chairman ALSO PRESENT: T. Quinn B. Taylor - General Manager - Town Clerk 1. The General Manager asked for direction with respect to an E-Mail ITom the CEO of the Public Library Board respecting a plaque at the Whitevale Library. 2. The General Manager reported that staff have responded with some suggestions with respect to the relocation of the Pickering F oodbank and he was directed by Council to consider other options and to determine the actual name of the Foodbank. (I) AUTHORITY TO MEET IN CAMERA Resolution #1/98 Moved by Councillor Johnson Seconded by Councillor Holland That pursuant to Section 55(7) of the Municipal Act, RS.O. 1990, c MAS, as amended, the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering hereby resolves to conduct a meeting to consider a land transaction and personnel matters. CARRIED " . . 4t 2 Resolution #2/98 Moved by Mayor Arthurs Seconded by Councillor Brenner That the Town Solicitor be authorized to deviate ITom Town policy regarding the Acquisition of Lands and that a draft by-law authorizing the Mayor and Clerk to execute an Offer to Purchase ITom the Region of Durham, Lot 77, Block N, Plan 418 for the sum of $135,000, to be prepared in a form accepted to the Town Solicitor be approved. CARRIED The General Manager reported that there was a robbery at the Works Centre over the holidays that involved the theft of office furniture and this is being investigated by the Police. Resolution #3/98 Moved by Councillor Johnson Seconded by Councillor Holland That the General Manager be authorized to retain the lawfirm ofHicksIMorley at a cost not to exceed $10,000.00 to deal with the employee matter verbally reported to Council at this Special Meeting. CARRIED Resolution #4/98 Moved by Councillor Johnson Seconded by Mayor Arthurs That the General Manager be authorized to retain the lawfirm of HicksIMorley at a cost not to exceed $15,000.00 to provide assistance with negotiations with the Pickering Professional Firefighters' Association. CARRIED Councillor Ryan asked the General Manager to hire a Security Consultant to study the security systems in place in the various municipal buildings. Councillor Holland inquired into the employment status of the temporary Councillors' Secretary.
