PRESENT: Mayor Wayne Arthurs COUNCILLORS: M. Brenner M. Holland R. Johnson B. McLean D. Pickles D. Ryan ALSO PRESENT: -. E. Buntsma N. Carroll G. Paterson T. Melymuk J. Reble R. Holbom B. Taylor D. Kearns - Director, Operations & Emergency Services - Director, Planning & Development - Director, Corporate Services & Treasurer - Division Head, Corporate Projects & Policy - Solicitor for the City - Division Head, Municipal Property & Engineering - City Clerk - Committee Coordinator (I) ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION 1. Tl:}e Chief Administrative Officer introduced the item concerning the York Region Water Project. 2. John Reble, Solicitor for the City, complimented the staff on a job well done in their roles in the York Region Water Project, making special note of Derek Doyle and Tom Melymuk. 3. Derek Doyle, the City's Peer Reviewer, advised that the Environmental Assessment is proceeding and comments must be in by May. Pickering has been critical of the lack of consultation with York during the Master Planning process, cost-dominance in the master planning decision-making and inadequate notice to citizens early in the Environmental Assessment process. 4. Mayor Arthurs questioned if the Community Working Group are being kept apprised of positions held after meetings between Derek Doyle and York Region. He requested that Mr. Doyle and the negotiating group work with York Region to get specific statements to the Community Working Group. - --2-- Resolution #47/01 Moved by Councillor Ryan Seconded by Councillor McLean To go In-Camera at 3:20 p.m. .... CARRIED Mayor Arthurs requested and received concurrence from Council that he and Ward 1 Councillors attend a meeting with the York Regional Chair. Mr. Reble will forward a letter of clarification to the Pickering Community Working Group. Resolution #48/01 Moved by Councillor Ryan Seconded by Councillor Pickles That Council rise from this In Camera session at 3:57 p.m. CARRIED 1. Gil Paterson, Director, Corporate Services & Treasurer, presented Council with an overview ofthe 2001 Operating and Capital Budgets. - 2. Mayor Arthurs requested a breakdown of the proposed Fire Hall and how much is attributed to Hwy. 407. The Province must be approached for financing as set out in the Notice of Motion. 3.
