Brenner M. Holland R. Johnson B. McLean D. Pickles ALSO PRESENT: T.Quinn N. Carroll B. Taylor D. Kearns - Chief Administrative Officer - Director, Planning & Development - City Clerk - Committee Coordinator ABSENT: ..... Councillor D. Ryan - Vacation (I) RESOLUTIONS Resolution #60/01 Moved by Councillor Brenner Seconded by Councillor Holland WHEREAS staff of the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority at its Meeting #1/01 of the Watershed Management Advisory Board held on April 20, 2001 received a report from Brian Denny, Director, Watershed Management Division, relating to the York Region Long Term Water Project, which report is attached to this Resolution; and WHEREAS the Council of the City of Pickering remains opposed to the construction of the said York Region Long Term Water Project through the City of Pickering; and WHEREAS the said report of Brian Denny recommends, among other things, "THAT the staff be directed to complete negotiations with the Region of York for a draft lease to accommodate the proposed pumping station within the Petticoat Creek Conservation Area and report to the Authority as soon as possible." ." NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pickering confirm with the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority the City's opposition to the York Region Long Term Water Project and reaffirm its request previously made to the Authority that the Authority also oppose the Project; and - --2-- THAT notwithstanding the City's opposition to the Project and its continuing request for the Authority's opposition, that the Authority, in its negotiations with York Region for "an evaluation of the real estate value of the lease" for a pumping station in the Petticoat Creek Conservation Area be requested to commit any funds to be derived from such a lease exclusively to the improvement of the waterfront lands or the watershed as situated within the City of Pickering; and ...... THAT the position of the City of Pickering as embodied herein be forwarded to the Toronto Region Conservation Authority for their meeting of April 27, 2001.
