HomeMy WebLinkAboutFebruary 24, 2014 2/10/2015 City of Pickering e PiCKERiNG Hide Left Content 0 Hide Right Content Council Highlights February 24, 2014 Appointment By-law - John Hagg, Fire Chief Council passed a by-law appointing John Hagg as Fire Chief of The Corporation of the City of Pickering effective March 1,2014. Multi-use Trail and Restoration along West Duffins Creek Council approved the hiring of the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority(TRCA)for the construction of a section of the Multi-use trail from Valley Farm Road to Beverley Morgan Park and the restoration along the West Duffins Creek. The work is scheduled to take place over the summer months,with the restoration work starting in July,followed by the trail work. This coincides with fisheries timing window for in-water works as well as summer break for the Pine Ridge Secondary School students who use this trail quite heavily.Please refer to Report ENG 03-14 for more information. Whitevale Master Drainage Plan Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Council endorsed the Whitevale Master Drainage Plan completed by AECOM. See Report ENG 04-14 for more information. Council Code of Conduct - Annual Report Council received the Annual Report of the Integrity Commissioner regarding the Council Code of Conduct. Members of Council have submitted Disclosure Statements for gifts to the Integrity Commissioner on a monthly basis which have been compiled into the Annual Report. Refer to Attachment 1 of Report LEG 02-14 for more detailed information. Amberlea Creek Pedestrian Bridge and Sanitary Sewer Replacement Council approved Report ENG 02-14 regarding the Amberlea Creek Pedestrian Bridge and Sanitary Sewer Replacement. Tender T-21-2013 was awarded to Hawkins Contracting Services Limited fora total project cost of $266,740. Construction is anticipated to start this spring and be completed by early summer. Notice of Motion - Referendum Question Regional Councillor Rodrigues seconded by Regional Councillor O'Connell moved a motion directing the City Clerk to follow the process for putting a question on the ballot of the 2014 regular municipal election asking the electors to vote on whether the City of Pickering should pass a resolution requesting that the Council of the Region of Durham take the necessary steps to reduce the size of Regional Council by distributing the seats based on the population of each municipality.
