HomeMy WebLinkAboutApril 28, 1999 - Budget Meeting �N pF F,lC BUDGET MEETING APRIL 28TH �*► 5:20 A.M. .V7z MINUTES A meeting of the Committee of the Whole of the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering was held on April 28th, 1999 at 5:20 p.m. in the Main Committee Room to consider the Proposed 1999 Budget. PRESENT: Mayor Arthurs Councillor Brenner Councillor Dickerson Councillor Holland Councillor Pickles Councillor Ryan Staff: T. J. Quinn - Chief Administrative Officer G. Paterson - Director of Finance and Treasurer S. Karwowski - Manager of Finance D. Kearns - Committee Co-ordinator ABSENT: Councillor Johnson-Personal The Director of Finance & Treasurer distributed and discussed correspondence from Janet Ecker, M.P.P. which included two cheques in the amounts of$324,829 for flood-related assistance and $300,000 representing an unconditional grant to assist with downloading, reassessment and PIL's. He further advised that a cheque in the amount of$100,000 had been received from a Special Circumstances Fund as a one time grant for restructuring and downloading. The Director of Finance & Treasurer also distributed correspondence including, a) News Release from Janet Ecker's office concerning the funds forwarded to the Town of Pickering from the Province for public infrastructure repair costs following 1998 spring flooding, b) Local - General Purpose Rate Summary Sheet, and c) Finance Report FIN 09-99 regarding the 1999 Current and Capital Budgets. Moved by Councillor Dickerson that Finance Report FIN 09-99 and the Local - General Purpose Rate Summary Sheet be recommended to Council for adoption. CARRIED AS AMENDED LATER IN THE MEETING 2321 TRANSPORTATION SERVICES - SIDEWALKS Moved by Councillor Pickles that Account 2321-6108 (New Construction) be amended by deleting $15,000 to be reflected in the deletion of Item #8 - Finch Avenue - south side between Rosefield and Liverpool Road and further amended with the addition of $40,000 for the installation of an IPS Pedestrian Crosswalk at the intersection of Finch Avenue and Rosefield Road. CARRIED - 2 - 2326 TRANSPORTATION SERVICES - ROADS Moved by Councillor Pickles that Account 2320-6181 (Other Fixed Assets) be amended by adding the paving of Golf Club Road at a cost of$60,000, 50%paid by the Town and 50% by the Golf Club. LOST 2718 PARKS FACILITIES - PARKS Moved by Councillor Brenner that Account 2718-6129 (Parks) be referred to the Council Meeting of May 10th. CARRIED A discussion took place and the Director of Finance was advised that if the Millennium Trail Project is approved at the Council Meeting of May 3rd it will be included in the budget, funded and incorporated into the Council Meeting of May 10th. Meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
