Taylor - City Clerk (I) MINUTES Regular Meeting of December 18th, 2000 (II) POINT OF PERSONAL PRIVILEGE 1. Mayor Arthurs reported on the sudden passing of the City of Pickering Fire Chief Rick Pearsall. (III) PRESENTATION 1. A presentation of the `Senior of the Year Award for the Year 2000' was made by Mayor Wayne Arthurs,jointly with Councillor Rick Johnson, to Florence Mennie. (IV) DELEGATION 1. Marty Martell, 1580 Kingston Road, Unit #67, advised that he has been a resident of Pickering for nine years and has experienced short interruptions in power supply which is not good when on oxygen. Hydro should not be requesting a raise in rates when there have been and still are problems. He questioned what Council intends to do about this issue. - - 2 - - (V) MATTERS FOR CONSIDERATION 1. CLERKS REPORT#41-00 APPOINTMENT OF ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER AS A MUNICIPAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER By-law Forwarded to Council 4. PROCLAMATION "PHARMACY AWARENESS WEEK"—MARCH 5-11, 2001 Approved See Recommendation #2 • (VI) OTHER BUSINESS 1. Councillor Brenner gave notice of a motion, seconded by Councillor Johnson, concerning application for funding for a multi-purpose facility on Brock Road from the Ontario SuperBuild Corp. 2. Councillor Brenner gave notice of a motion, seconded by Councillor Holland, concerning opposition to the York Water Line. 3. The following matters were discussed prior to the regular meeting: a) The Chief Administrative Officer distributed a flyer concerning Fire Chief Rick Pearsall and advised of the funeral arrangements. b) Councillor Johnson advised that Education Critic Gerard Kennedy will be using the Council Chambers on January 10th c) Councillor Holland advised that he has received a complaint concerning the aggressive behaviour of the individual going door to door selling dog and cat tags. • - - 3 - - (VII) ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m. DATED U ' Z 3, z UV/ CLERK APPENDIX#1 CITY OF PICKERING That the Executive Committee of the City of Pickering having met on January 8th, 2001, presents its first report to Council and recommends: 1. CORPORATE SERVICES REPORT VERIDIAN CONNECTIONS INC. DISTRIBUTION RATE APPLICATION TO THE ONTARIO ENERGY BOARD That Report CS 01-01 of the Director, Corporate Services & Treasurer, concerning Veridian Connections Inc. Distribution Rate Application to the Ontario Energy Board, be received for information; and that The Mayor and Clerk be authorized to execute an Acknowledgement and Agreement for each of the two Promissory Notes held by the City of Pickering. 2. PROCLAMATION "PHARMACY AWARENESS WEEK"—MARCH 5-11, 2001 That Mayor Arthurs be authorized to make the following proclamation: "Pharmacy Awareness Week"—March 5 — 11, 2001 •
