A Statutory Public Information Meeting was held by the Pickering Town
Council on Monday, September 14, 1992 at 8:00 p.m.

(1) TOWN INITIATED OFFICIAL PIAN AMENDMENT APPLICATION 92-7/P
PICKERING DISTRICT PIAN (HIGHBUSH COMMUNITY PIAN) FOR
THE ALTONA FOREST AREA

1.
An explanation of the application, as outlined in
Information Package to consider Amendment No. 79 was given
by C. Rose, Manager, Policy Division.

John Whitehead, Bramalea Limited spoke in support of this
application
3.
Robert Stenton, 1948 Rosebank Road, recommended that this
development be approved. He stated that he felt it would
help the economy by creating jobs for numerous businesses
within Pickering.

Don Given, P. O. Box 6, Whitevale, representing Landford,
endorsed the staff recommendation concerning this
development. He felt all studies which have been carried
out on this proposal are valid. He stated that Landford
are willing to accept a large part of their land in the
forest area.

Jim McCafferty, Seperate School Trustee, supports the
amendment application. He stated that the schools in
Pickering are overcrowded and the school board is being
pressured to build a new school.
6.
Sid Cassel, 1897-1909 Altona Road, representing a number of
property owners, stated that they are in favour of this
development. He felt that the Planning Department had
worked well with the developers. Unless this property is
developed it will remain in private hands, being used by
trail bikes, snow mobiles and other motorized vehicles. He
urged Council to approve this amendment.

John Sopta, 1818 Rosebank Road, spoke in favour of this
proposal. He stated that he realizes the environmentalists
are against this recommendation but that they do not live
in Pickering and therefore do not understand the need for
this development. He felt it was time to make a decision.

Peter Landolt, representing a landowner on the southwest
corner spoke in favour of this amendment. He stated that
there should not be anymore delays and that Council should
make a decision.

9. Joan Donaghey, 1764 Rosebank Road spoke in favour of this
amendment application.
10. Mr. Andechs linger 1762 Rosebank Road spoke in favour of
this amendment application.
11. Frank Albani representing Julie Albani, 1803 Altona Road,
spoke in favour of this amendment application. He stated
that they are unable to live in their home due to the lack
of services. They would like Council to make a decision in
favour of this amendment.

Mario Polsinelli, 1826 Rosebank Road asked Council to
accept this proposal.
13.
Ann Riekstins, 1944 Rosebank Road spoke in favour of this
amendment application. She feels that it is time for
Council to approve this development.
