Tyler Barnett discussed the site plan in relation to concerns expressed at the February 28th accessibility meeting. The original plan was deficient in parking spaces and the developer has been required to add additional spaces. An additional disabled parking spot will be added to each level of underground parking. These changes will allow the site plan to meet the by-law requirements. In addition, Tyler will request the developer to locate the underground spots closer to the entrances. Concerns were raised about the stairwell widths within the townhouses, and their ability to accommodate accessibility in the future. Tyler indicated that this is a building code issue and does not fall under the scope of site plan review, however will speak with the Chief Building Official regarding the convertability of these units and report back to Lisa. Tyler mentioned that the Planning & Development Department questioned the developers if they could provide townhouses that were accessible. The developers indicated that this was not their intention. The live-work units on St. Martin’s Drive will be barrier free at the entrance in order to accommodate the commercial uses permitted in the by-law. Tyler indicated that a number of issues raised by this committee are building code issues that are reviewed during the building permit review stage. Any issues requirement for accessibility within the units (i.e. elevator dimensions and operation devices) will be enforced through the review of the building permits. Tyler will be meeting with the developer next week and will get back to the Clerk’s division regarding the aforementioned items. All Tyler to action. Tyler to action. Tyler to action.
