J./76 TOWN OF PICKERING MUSEUM BOARD A meeting of the Pickering Museum Board was held on FRIDAY, AUGUST 6th 1976 at 8:00 P.M., at the Greenwood Schoolhouse. PRESENT: W. Biernacki Wm. Clark D. McLean - Chairman Councillor K. Spratley J.P. Myslik - Secretary 1. NEW BUSINESS a) Proposal to move Thornbeck Windmill A written proposal to move the Thornbeck Windmill was submitted by Mr. L. McCulloch for the amount of $2,000.00. It was noted that the proper preparations should be made prior to the relocation of the windmill. The location on the site should be staked out and M.T.R.C.A. approval received. Mr. John Maletch of M.T.R.C.A. should be contacted. MOTION 230/76 Moved by W. Biernacki, seconded by Wm. Clark that the Museum. Board accept the proposal of Mr. L. McCulloch for the moving of the Thornbeck Windmill to the Greenwood site for the cost of $2,000.00. CARRIED b) Proposal to relocate Log Barn Mr. L. McCulloch wishes to donate a Log Barn which is presently on the Federal site to the Pickering Museum. The Log Barn could be used for the display of Pioneer implements and to put implements under cover. MOTION 231/76 Moved by Wm. Clark, seconded by W. Biernacki that the Museum. Board accept the proposal of Mr. L. McCulloch for the moving of the McCulloch Barn located on Altona Road in the ninth concession to the Greenwood site at the cost of $250.00, CARRIED c) A Tender Procedure MOTION 232/76 Moved by Wm. Clark, seconded by W. Biernacki that the Tender procedure be waived in the instance of th~ reloca~ìon of the Thornbeck Windmill and of the McCulloch Log Barn CARRIED - 40 - 11/76 2. OTHER BUSINESS a) Public Presentation of the Conceptual Plan It was suggested that the plan of the Museum at the Greenwood site be presented to the public on September lst and 2nd 1976. Mr. D.R. Owen should be notified of this Public Presentation. It was suggested that the Historical Society be asked to serve tea on this occasion. b) Water Test - Greenwood Schoolhouse It was recommended that the Regional office of the Health Unit be contacted concerning the testing óf the water at the Greenwood Schoolhouse. c) Site Plan Presentation It was suggested that the next step in the relocation of the Museum. would be the preparation of a site plan. MOTION 233/76 Moved by K. Spratley, seconded by WID. Clark that a letter be sent to Mr. D.R. Owen requesting a quotation of the cost to produce a site plan for the Greenwood site. CARRIED d) Notification of Media It was indicated that the local newspapers should be formally notified of the public presentation of the plan of the Museum at the Greenwood site. e) Chairman of the Technical Advisory Committee - Resignation Mr. K. Spratley explained his reasons for resigning as Chairman of the Technical Advisory Committee. He indicated that he thought that the Technical Advisory Committee had done the job that it had been established to do. He further- more indicated that the Chairman and the Committee had been criticized at a Museum Board meeting. f) History-in-Action Gate 4,000 tickets indicating' Admit One' should be ordered for History-in-Action. The Federal Officials should be contacted conc~rning the use of the parking at the Federal Building for History-in-Action. Second Gate: It was suggested that a snow fence be used to sequester a parking area for demonstrators at the gate near the church shed. - 41 - 11/76 2. OTHER BUSINESS Continued f} History-in-Action (Continued) It was suggested that a booth be constructed for the ticket sellers. 3. ADJOURNMENT Moved by Wm. Clark, seconded by K.
