HomeMy WebLinkAboutOctober 26, 1976 - 49 - '£/76 TOWN OF PICKERING MUSEUM BOARD A meeting of the Pickering Museum Board was held on TUESDAY, OCTOBER 26th 1976 at 8:00 P.M. in the Greenwood Schoolhouse PRESENT: Councillor J. Anderson W. Biernacki F. Conant Wm. Clark D. McLean Councillor K. Spratley J.P. Myslik - Secretary 1. ADOPTION OF MINUTES Moved by Councillor Anderson, seconded by D. McLean that the minutes of the meetings of September 24th and 28th 1976, be adopted. CARRIED 2. CORRESPONDENCE Letter from The Honourable Wm. Newman In a letter dated October 4th 1976, the Honourable Wm. Newman, Minister of Agriculture and Food, informed the Chairman of the Museum Board relative to progress made with respect to the rental of the Rogers' Barns. MOTION 248/76 Moved by Councillor Spratley, seconded by D. McLean that the letter of the Honourable Wm. Newman, Minister of Agriculture and 'Food, be received for information. CARRIED 3 . REPORTS a) Administrator - ~ Thornbeck windmill and workshop have been relocated to the Greenwood site. Some tidying up of the Greenwood site has taken place. The steam down was held at Brougham with a good attendance of people. It was suggested and agreed upon that the Greenwood Schoolhouse be closed during the winter months from December to March. The Administrator will drain the pipes and pump. b) Admissions In a report dated October 21st 1976 the Secretary reported with respect to admissions and receipts during the period August 3rd 1976 to September 19th 1976. MOTION 249/76 Moved by D. McLean, seconded by Wm. Clark that the reports of the Administrator and the Secretary pertaining.tQ"a:dmi-ssions be received for information. CARRIED - 50 - -'/76 4. NEW BUSINESS a) Greenwood Site Conceptual Plan - Miss Wanstall In a letter dated September 11th 1976, Miss Wanstall, Chairman of the Greenwood Ratepayers Association expressed concern over certain aspects of the plan for the Museum at Greenwood. MOTION 250/76 Moved by Councillor Anderson, seconded by F. Conant that the letter of Miss Anne Wanstall dated September 11th 19J6, be received for information, and that a letter be sent to Miss Wanstall inviting her to attend a Museum Board meeting to discuss the concerns of the Greenwood Ratepayers' Association. CARRIED b) Museum Operating - Guide Programme Evaluation The Director of Recreation and Transportation, the Guide Captain and Guides, submitted comments relative to the evaluation of the Guide Programme '76. MOTION 251/76 Moved by Councillor Spratley, seconded by D. McLean that the evaluation submitted by the Director of Recreation and Transportation, the Guide Captain and the Guides be received for information and that their comments be reviewed prior to the next season, so that the recommendations may be implemented. CARRIED c) Ontario Historical Society - Heritage Funding Services The Ontario Historical Society has compiled the various Heritage Funding sources in Ontario. This is submitted for the information of the Board members. d) Accounts for Approval MOTION 252/76 Moved by F. Conant, seconded by Councillor Spratley that the following accounts be approved for October 26th 1976: Dickson Printing C.O.R.E. L.N.
