".. ,... 1. 2. 3. - 11 - 6/75 TECHNICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE A meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee to the Pickering Museum Board was held on Wednesday, October 15th 1975 at 2.00 p.m. in the pickering Municipal Building. PRESENT: Mrs. B. Davies Mr. D. McLean Mr. W. Morrison councillor K. Spratley (Chairman) Mr. G. Waters Mr. J.P. Myslik (Secretary) ADOPTION OF MINUTES Moved by D. McLean, seconded by W. Morrison that the minutes of the meetine.; o,f October 1st 1975 be adopted. CARRIED It was noted that the Administsation Chart attached to the minutes' needs to be re-worked in órder to assess the situation more accurately. NEW BUSINESS a) Highways The Secretary was contacted by Mr. Jta Lacey of the North Pickering Project who inforn\eð. him that Highways . 7 and . 407 are to skirt Greenwood, either to the North or to the South. Hence there should be no inconvenience to the new Museum site. Nevertheless,the committee directed that a letter be written to the Ministry of Transportation and communications expressing the opposition of the Coøødttee to the intrusion of highways into the Museum site and the general Greenwood Area. Copies of this letter are to be sent to the Minister of Housing, Mr. William Newman, M.P.P. and Dr. Charles Godfrey, M.P.P.. b) Proposal by Mr. R. Owen The Committee indicated that the proposal of Mr. OWen should be discussed at a meeting when most of the members were present. It was suggested that the meeting begin with a discussion of the proposal and that Mr. OWen could possibly be present at approximately 3.00 p.m. in order to answer questions that the Committee would wish to submit to him. OTHER BUSINESS a) Discussion of GreenWOOd School It was noted that the Greenwood School would be used primarily for interim storage and general purpose use for the Museum during the relocation period; after that it could be used as a head- quarters for the Historical Society. The Committee recommended to the Museum Board that the Durham Board of Education and the Durham Region Separate School Board be invited to participate in the planning of the Museum by appointing members to the Technical Advisory Committee. b) North Brock Sanitary Landfill Site It was noted that the decision concerning the North Brock Sanitary Landfill Site, which abuts the proposed Museum Site, is being appealed by Metropolitan Toronto. Proposed Greenwood Site It was brought to the attention of the Committee that the new site for the Museum is the site of the former Green Lower Dam. The Green family have contributed to the histøry of the area and specifically to this particular site and it was suggested that the Green family be commemorated in some manner in the Museum. c) MOTION 4/75 MOVED by D. McLean, seconded by W. Morrison that it be recommended to the Museum Board that the Green family be recognized in the Museum in a way to be determined at a future date. The Committee also recommended to the Museum Board thata letter be sent by the Board expressing condolences to the Green family and to indicate that they are pleased that the Museum will perpetuate a site made historical by the Green family. CARRIED NEXT MEETING The next meeting was proposed for October 29th 1975 at 2.00 p.m. ADJOURNMENT MOVED by B. Davies, seconded by D.
