Project Update Councillor Holland provided an update on the status of the Waterfront Trail Project advising that the boardwalk connecting the bottom of Liverpool Road to the Alex Robertson Park is complete and the children's splash park is being painted. He further advised that the final elements of the Millennium Square, including completion of the boardwalk, children's play equipment, etc. are included in the 2001 Capital Budget. These elements will be tendered and are subject to Council's approval in February. If approved, this work could be complete in time for the Frenchman's Bay Festival and ribbon cutting could take place in June. The Historical, Arts and Interpretive Signage aspects are not included. A presentation will be made to Council in January by staff and Victor Ford & Associates on Phase II of the project - Frenchman's Bay West. The washroom element of this project will not be included in this phase until the water pipes are placed. The east/west connection along Beach Point Promenade can also not be completed until these water pipes are installed. 2. Waterfront Trail - Costs to Date & Estimate of Completion Costs Everett Buntsma, Director, Operations & Emergency Services reviewed his memorandum dated November 29th, 2000 to Mayor Arthurs with the Committee. (copy attached) Everett and Victor Ford have been working together on a brochure and Power Point presentation of the Waterfront Trail. This presentation and brochure will assist to inform others of the beautiful waterfront along Pickering shores. Everett further advised that Richard Holborn, Division Head, Municipal Property & Engineering has been working with TRCA towards an RFP for storm water management. A Critical Path/Schedule for the Stormwater Management initiatives that has been started with TRCA will be provided to the Committee. A copy of the report from Richard Holborn, sent to Council in September, concerning Stormwater management initiatives, is attached. - 2 - A grant application has been submitted for 1,500 native trees to be planted along the waterfront. Signage materials and design must be finalized and Ontario Power Generation advised in order that they can coordinate their signage through the Hydro Marsh with the signage on the remainder of the Trail. 3.
