BY-LAW NO. 518~./97
Being a by-law to provide for the addition of interest to
tax arrears
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990, chapter M.45, section
419(2), the Council of The Corporation of the Town of Pickering may by by-law require that the Town
Treasurer add to the amount of all taxes due and unpaid interest at such rate not exceeding 15 per cent
per annum as Council determines, from the 31 st day of December of the year in which the taxes were
levied until the taxes are paid;
NOW THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF PICKER1NG HEREBY ENACTS AS
FOLLOWS:
1. Effective March 1, 1998, the Treasurer shall add to the amount of all taxes in arrears, which are
due and unpaid, interest on same at the rate of ! 5.0 per cent per annum until the taxes are paid.
This By-law shall come into force on January 1, 1998.
BY-LAW read a first, second and third time and finally passed this 22nd day of December, 1997.
