DISPOSITION
Be-lng a by-law to submit a question to the electors at the
municipal election to be held on November 10, 1997.
WHEREAS pursuant to Se~on 8(1) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, S.O. 1996, c.
32, as amended, the council of a municipality may pass a by-law to submit to its electors a
question not otherwise authorized by law but within the council's jurisdiction;
THE
ii 1. The following question shall be submitted to the electors at thc regular municipal
]! election to be held on November 10, ! 997:
DO YOU AGREE TRAT TH~ COSTS OF WELFARE, SOCIAL
SERVICES AND SOCIAL HOUSING SHOULD BE DOWNLOADED
BY TI~ PROVINCE AND PAID BY TIlE TAXPAYER THROUGH
MUNICIPAL PROPERTY TAXES AND SHARED (POOLED)
ACROSS TI~ ENTIRE GTA (GTA MEANING METRO TORONTO
AND TI~ REGIONS OF DURIIAM, 8ALTON, PEEL AND YORK)
2. The Clerk of the Corporation of the Town of Picketing shall sum up thc number of
votes in the affirmative and i~ the negative on the said question and declare and
post the results of the vote pursuant to the requirement of the Municipal Election,
1996.
By-law read a first, second and third time and finally passed this 6th day of October, 1997.
