HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 1432/82THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF PICKERING BY-LAW NUMBER 1432/82 Being a by-law to amend By-law 1064/79 licensing, regulating and governing taxicab and limousine drivers, owners and brokers. WHEREAS pursuant to the provisions of paragraph 1 of section 377 of The Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1970, c. 284, the Town of Pickering enacted By-law 1064/79 on November 19, 1979 to provide for the licensing, regulating and governing of taxicab and limousine drivers, owners and brokers, and for establishing the rates and fares to be charged by the owners or drivers of such vehicles for the conveyance of goods or passengers, either wholly within the municipality or to any point not more than three miles beyond its limits, and providing for collection of such rates or fares and for revoking any such licences; and WHEREAS a written request has been received to increase the rates or fares to be charged by the owners or drivers of such vehicles; NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering HEREBY ENACTS as follows: Schedule B of By-law 1064/79, as amended by By-law 1169/80, is hereby repealed and Schedule I and II attached hereto shall be substituted therefor. Schedule I attached hereto shall take effect upon passage of this by-law. 3. Schedule II attached hereto shall take effect on September 30, 1982. BY-LAW READ a first, second and third time and finally PASSED this 1st day of February, 1982. SCHEDULE "I" TO BY-LAW NUMBER 1432/82 SCHEDULE "B" TARIFF OF RATES AND FARES DISTANCE CHARGES For the first 1/7 or part thereof kilometre (~68 feet), $1.00 For each additional 1/7 kilometre (468 feet) or part thereof $0.10 For waiting time while under engage- ment, for each minute $0.20 OTHER CHARGES Passengers - for each passenger in excess of four (4) $0.25 Trunks - for each trunk exceeding 0·1 cubic metres $0.60 Luggage - for each piece not carried by passenger inside vehicle $0.15 Groceries - for each bag or carton loaded and/or unloaded by driver $0.15 C. NOTES Maximum total charge under B.1, 2 and 3 shall not exceed $0.60 for any trip. No charge is claimable or payable for the carriage of a wheel chair accomp- anying a handicapped person. LIMOUSINE CHARGES For local service, the rates shall be $20.00 per hour.
