By-law No. 8279/26
Being a by-law to appoint Tariq Mahmood, Gavin Irvine,
Jackson Colquhoun, Anthony Karabulut, and Kaley Lam as a
Municipal Law Enforcement Officer for the purpose of enforcing the by-laws of the Corporation of the City of Pickering.
Whereas pursuant to section 55 of the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019, S.O. 2019, c.1, Sched. 1, a municipal council may appoint persons to enforce the by-laws of the
municipality and such municipal law enforcement officers are peace officers for the purpose of
enforcing municipal by-laws;
And Whereas pursuant to section 1 of the Provincial Offences Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.33, the Attorney General of Ontario has designated municipal law enforcement officers as provincial offences officers to enforce the by-laws of the municipality under the Provincial Offences Act;
Now therefore the Council of The Corporation of the City of Pickering hereby enacts as follows:
1.Tariq Mahmood, Gavin Irvine, Jackson Colquhoun, Anthony Karabulut, and Kaley Lam arehereby appointed as a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer in and for the City of Pickering inorder to ascertain whether the provisions of all by-laws of The Corporation the City ofPickering are obeyed and to enforce or carry into effect the said by-laws.
2.This appointment shall expire upon the employee noted in section 1 ceasing to be
employed by the City of Pickering or until the repeal of this by-law.
3.The provisions of this by-law shall come into force and take effect on the day of the finalpassing thereof.
