Pursuant to Part VI.1 of the Municipal Act, 2001

Direction to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and the Director, Finance &
Treasurer pertaining to the 2025 City of Pickering Budget
In accordance with subsections 284.3 and 284.16 of the Municipal Act, 2001 (the “Act”),
the Mayor hereby directs the CAO and the Director, Finance & Treasurer to:
1. Prepare a draft City of Pickering 2025 Current and Capital Budget (including a
nine-year Capital Forecast), with a target levy increase of 3.75%, that translates
into an estimated 1.20% on the City Share of the total property tax bill, in
accordance with the requirements of the Act;
2. Provide the Mayor with periodic updates on the 2025 draft Current and Capital
Budget in order that those discussions may inform the Budget;
3. Develop an engagement strategy pertaining to the draft 2025 Capital Budget,
and that such strategy be provided to the Mayor for approval prior to
implementation;
4. Meet with the Ward Councillors to obtain feedback on the City of Pickering
Senior Staff draft recommended 2025 Capital Budget and forecast;
5. Compile the feedback from the public and Members of Council, and forward to
the Mayor, to be considered in the development of the Mayor’s 2025 Current &
Capital Budget; and,
6. That the proposed draft 2025 Current and Capital Budget be provided to each
Member of Council, the City Clerk, and the public no later than November 29,
2024.
This Direction takes effect on March 19, 2024, and remains in effect unless and until it is
revoked in writing by the Mayor.
