Pursuant to Part VI.1 of the Municipal Act, 2001

Direction to the Chief Planner to prepare a Memorandum pertaining to a proposed
change in designation to certain lands in the Durham Region Official Plan
In accordance with subsections 284.3 and 284.10 of the Municipal Act, 2001 (the “Act”),
the Mayor hereby directs the Chief Planner to:
1. Prepare a Memorandum detailing the proposed change to the designation of
certain lands in Seaton, as identified in the Durham Region Official Plan, from
Employment Areas to Community Areas, as in my opinion, the change could
potentially advance the prescribed provincial priorities of building 1.5 million new
residential units by December 31, 2031, and constructing and maintaining
infrastructure to support housing; and,
2. That the Memorandum be presented to Council for their consideration at a
Special Meeting to be called by the Mayor.
This direction takes effect on January 25, 2024, and remains in effect unless and until it
is revoked in writing by the Mayor.
