BY-LAW NO. 3719/91
Being a by-law to appoint George Martin as
Ward 3 Regional Councillor
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of section 39(i) of the Municipal Act,
R.S.O. 1980, chapter 302, the Ward 3 Regional Councillor seat of Councillor
Beverley Morgan on the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering
(and thereby on the Council of The Regional Municipality of Durham) became
vacant upon her death on May 2, 1991; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of section 12(4) of the Regional
Municipality of Durham Act, R.S.O. 1980, chapter 434, when a vacancy occurs in
the office of a member, the council of the area municipality of which she was
a member shall by by-law within sixty days after the vacancy occurs appoint a
successor {who may be a member of that council or a person who is eligible to
be elected a member of the council) to hold office for the remainder of the
term of his predecessor; and
WHEREAS George Martin is eligible to be elected a member of the Council of the
Corporation of the Town of Pickering;
NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering HEREBY
ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
George Martin is hereby appointed as the successor to Councillor
Beverley Morgan, to hold office as the Ward 3 Regional Councillor
on the Council of The Corporation of the Town of Picketing {and
thereby on the Council of The Regional Municipality of Durham)
for the remainder of her term.
BY-LAW read a first, second and third time and finally passed this 3rd day of
June, 1991.
