By-law No. 7938/22
Being a by-law to appoint a Deputy Fire Chief of The
Corporation of the City of Pickering
Whereas Section 6 (1) of the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, 1997, S.O. 1997,
Chapter 4, as amended provides that if a fire department is established for the whole or
a part of a municipality, the Council of the municipality shall appoint a fire chief for the
fire department;
And Whereas The Corporation of the City of Pickering has enacted By-law 7929/22
appointing Stephen Boyd as Fire Chief;
And Whereas Section 6 (6) of the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, 1997, S.O. 1997,
c.4, as amended provides that a fire chief may delegate his or her powers or duties
under sections 14, 19 and 20 and such other powers and duties as may be prescribed
to any firefighter or class of firefighters, subject to such limitations, restrictions or
conditions as may be prescribed or set out in the delegation;
Now therefore the Council of The Corporation of the City of Pickering hereby enacts as
follows:
1.That Nigel Robinson is hereby appointed Deputy Fire Chief of The Corporation of
the City of Pickering to carry out any and all duties of the Fire Chief in their
absence and such appointment shall take effect on May 30, 2022; and,
2.That Bylaw 7758/20, being a By-law to appoint Stephen Boyd as Deputy Fire
Chief, is hereby repealed effective May 30, 2022.
