Welcome
T. Ryce welcomed members to the meeting and the
representatives for the Indo -Canadian Cultural
Association of Durham.
Introduced J. St. Amant, Coordinator, Cultural
Services to the new members.

Community Events Policy
Final policy will be slightly edited to address
wording. Policy was provided to Council in January
and has been endorsed.. Renewing our
commitment to existing events in Esplanade Park.
Working towards gaining council support for a Halal
food festival.
4.
Review of 2017 work plan
Review of the 2017 work plan took place.
5.
Community Festivals and Events manual — next
steps
Manual is complete, to be brought to community for
public consultation.
Explanation of what is included in the manual was
discussed.
Proposed next meeting will be open to the public to
discuss the manual and open for comments by those
present. Feedback opportunities will be open for 3
weeks following the meeting.
GIS mapping system — a discussion took place about
where this system stands in implementation of
including more layers related to Culture.
A staff plan for medium stream goals will be
presented in March.
Members were advised that committee work will only
go till September 2018 and then the committee
members will have to reapply to be a part of this
committee due to the election.

Review of the next steps for staff and the rolls for the
committee for the next 3 years took place.

Civic Awards 2017
A discussion on 2017 Civic Awards took place.
7.
Other Business
A discussion about Creative Network of Canada and
that committee members should be receiving an
email to sign in and register as a member.
In a members only section on this website there are
Cultural Plans available on line from other
municipalities.
