L. G'~1!gh is building two houses on his 26 acres at Pickering Beach an asks permission to use a trailer for four months. when he expects houses to be completed. Will deposit $300.00 as a bond according to By-Law No. 2223. Building Inspector Frank Prouse has approved, See Resolution No. 149/6~. 3. Solicitors for Gerald Cowan ask for a right-of-way over property they deeded Township in March for Block "Lit. Plan ~18. See By-Law No. 289~. 4. School Area 2 Secretary sets out in letter what use is being made of school grounds after school hours. 5. Mr. Drew, H.E.P.C.. has forwarded Township Resolution to stop dumping fly ash to Mr. Barkey. 85l Coxwell Avenue. Toronto. 6. Department of Highways of Ontario has approved $200,000.00 Road Expenditure for 1964. 7. Planning Conference May 28-29. Park Plaza, Toronto. Registration, $ 15.00. 8. Bill 54. Township to have two school areas in January. 1965. 9. Mr. & Mrs. G. Belanger, of Bay Ridges. commend Council and Treasurer for booklet re 1964 taxes. - 2 - lOt Our Solicitors submit new Offer of Purchase for gravel pit. The following PERSONS, on MOTION. were heard: l. Dr. W. A. McKay appeared on behalf of the Township of Pickering Museum Committee and asked that Council approve their appli- cation for a $40,700.00 Centennial grant to purchase land and add more buildings to the Museum. 2. Donald McIntosh asked Council to permit him to transfer his lots in Rougedale acres to Lease By without payment of $500.00 fee, but that this fee be paid as Lease By sells the lots. It was AGREED that Reeve Laycox. Mr, McIntosh and owner of 22 lots meet in Solicitors' office May 25th at 10 a. m. 3. W. G. Newman stated the cutting of the trees on east side of Fairport Road by Consolidated Building Corporation was very bad and wanted to be assured that the trees in front of his five acres on lot line would not be removed. It was AGREED these trees should not have been cut and that Township Engineer be contacted to find out if he approved the cutting of trees south of Mr. Newman's property and that he not permit those t~ees~ in front of his property to be cut. 4. On MOTION of Mr. Newman. seconded by Mrs. McPherson, Mr. Wm. Sherrin, Funeral Director, at Lot 7. Concession 1. was, hear4. Mr. Sherrin stated he was the only funeral director operating in the Township. and that the Pickering Township Police had not given him a call for ambulance work in the past three andbne-half years. He felt there was discrimination. Reeve Laycox told him that this appeared to be a Police Commission matter and that he would be placed on the agenda of the next Commission meeting. 5. W. G. Newman asked on behalf of the Dunbarton Anglican Church that old Highway No. 2 road allowance, now closed in front of the church grounds, be deeded to the church for parking purposes. See Resolution No. l50/64. RESOLUTION NUMBER 1~2/64 MOVED by Mr. Wank. seconded by Mrs. McPherson. that all members of Council advise individuals who request a hearing before Council that the spokesman or a representative of the spokesman's group notify the Clerk at least 48 hours in advance of the said Council meeting, of intent to be heard except in a case of emergency. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 1~3/64 MÖVED by Mr. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Wank, that the Council of the Township of Pickering request D. H. O. to erect a sign on north side of No. 2 Highway facing south, opposite Liverpool Road, and that this sign shall state "Brock Road" and point east. This will direct traffic from the ~Ol Highway along the No. 2 Highway to Brock Road and eliminate heavy traffic on the residential part of Liverpool Road north of the No. 2 Highway. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER l44/6~ MOVED by Mr. Wank. seconded by Mr. Campbell, that the Reeve and Clerk arrange to hold a meeting with the School Trustees and members of Council of Township of Pickerint to discuss administration and operation of all public schools in the area. CARRIED - 3 - RESOLUTION NUMBER 145/64 MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Newman, that as on March 3. 1964, the Road Committee passed a resolution reading: "That this Committee recommend to Council that the Township Engineer be authorized to employ L. Totten and Associates Limited to design the bridge on Concession 2 west of Altona Road and to negotiate an engineering agreement for the signature of the Reeve and Clerk for the work"; BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that this Council approve the above res- olution and authorize the Reeve and aerk to sign such an agreement, subject to the approval of the Department of Highways of Ontario. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER l46/64 MOVED by Mr. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Waring, that this Council permit the Rouge Hills Lions Club to use the Township five acres at Liverpool for the Carnival on June 25. 26, and 27. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER l47/64 MOVED by Mr. Spang, seconded by Mrs, McPherson, that this Council declare that Section l3 of the Weed Control Act, which requires all weeds to be cut on 9 acres or less, be effective as of June 1, 196~t and that the Weed Control Officer publish this notice in the three loc~l papers. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 148/64 MOVED by Mr. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Waring. that Mr. Sherrin's grievance be referred to the Police Commission with Mr. Sherrin being notified of the date. In the meantime, Chief Parker is to be advised that Sherrin's services are available 24 hours per day. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER l49/64 MOVED by Mr. Newman, seconded by Mrs. McPherson. that application of Mr. L. G. Hough to live in a trailer for four months while building a home at Pickering Beach be refused by this Council. CARRIE D RESOLUTION NUMBER lSO/64 MOVED by Mr. Newman. seconded by Mr. Campbell, that the Township of Pickering give for the sum of One Dollar to St. Paul's Church, Dunbarton. the land abutting the church property on the south side in or,der to facilitate p,arking for church, since this land was originally owned by the D. H. 0., and is of no use to the Township of Pickering; copy to be sent to C. Fraser, District Engineer, Department of Highways of Ontario, Downsview, Ontario. CARRIED BY-LAW NUMBER 2891 Mrs. McPherson. seconded by Mr. Campbell. moves for leave to intro- duce a By-Law of the Township of Pickering to authorize the Reeve and Clerk to sign an Offer of Purchase for a gravel pit, and that same now be read a first time. Mrs. MCPherson, seconded by Mr. Wank, moves that By-Law Number 2891 to authorize the Reeve and Clerk to sign an Offer of Purchase for a Gravel Pit. be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-law as read. Mrs. McPherson. seconded by Mr. Wank, moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2891 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. Mr. Waring, seconded by Mr. Spang. moves that By-law Number 2892 to sign an agreement with the Hydro-Electric Power Commission for street lighting in West Bay Ridges, be now read a second time. and that Counci~ go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-law as read. Mrs. McPherson. seconded by Mr. Wank, moves that By-law Number 2893 to authorize speed limits be now read a second time. and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read. Mrs. McPherson. seconded by Mr. Wank, moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2893 be adopted. and that the said By-law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same. and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED BY-LAW NUMBER 2894 Mr. Campbell. seconded by Mr. Wank, moves for leave to introduce a By-law of the Township of Pickering to authorize the Reeve and Clerk to sign a conveyance to permit the owners of Block "L" in Plan 418 to have a right-of-way over Township property, and that same now be read a first time. Mr. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Newman, moves that By-law Number 289B to authorize tbe Reeve and Clerk to sign a conveyance to permit the owners of Block "L", Plan 4l8. to have a right-of-way over Township property, be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read. Mr. Campbell. seconded by Mr. Wank. moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-law No. 2894 be adopted. and that the said By-law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto.
