CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Spang. seconded by Mr. Campbell, that Minutes of meeting held February 10. 196~, be adopted. CARRIED MOVED by Mrs. McPherson. seconded by Mr. Waring, that Minutes of meeting held February 17, 196~. be adopted. CARRIED The following CORRESPONDENCE was considered: - l. Pickering Golf Club asks permission to erect a directional sign in Township Cemetery at Highway 2 and Brock Road. Clerk ask that sign be placed 200 feet to west in vacant private property. 2. F. H. Laycoe, who operates a store in the Township at end of Tudor Street, Ajax, asks for garbage pick-up. Garbage truck would have to go through most of the Town of Ajax to collect this garbage. Clerk ask Mr. LaycoX to get private pick-up as he is not in garbage area. 3.. Our Solicitors submit a draft agreement for purchase of a gravel pit in Uxbridge. Road Committee consider March 3, 196~. 4. DeJartment of Labour submits notice of application for an Of ice Union. 6. Hydro-~lectric Power Commission supply pamphlet on "Fly Ash". County of Ontario has appointed Wm. G. McLean, Kenneth Reesor, Alex S. Strachan, members of the Court of Revision for Pickering Township for 1964. 5. 7. Pickering District Hi~h School Board will present their 196~ budget to three municipalities Thursday, March 5, at 8 p. m. 8. Delegation from Council meet Uxbridge Council Monday, March 9th, at 3 p. m. re gravel pit agreement. 9. Metro Toronto Industrial Commission asks for 1964 fee of S500.00~ Our Industrial Committee recommends that Township do not become members for 1964. 14. Industrial Committee asks for a budget of $5.000.00 for 1964~ l5. Shell Oil Company is raising the price of furnace oil from 13.8 to l4.~, as of March 15. 1964. Clerk call for tenders. See Resolution No. 50/64. l6. Metro conser- 17. Ontario Municipal Association advises that our resolution will be presented to Cabinet on March II at 10 A. M. re Hydro area within a Township. 18. Resolution of Parks and Recreation Committee, "That the West Rouge Community Centre Board be changed to The West Rouge Community Parks Board." 19. Arthur Carlton asks for privilege of taking scrap from Garbage Dump for $75.00 for year 196~. as for past several years. See ReSolution No. 60/6~. 20. E. J. Delaney. of West Rouge, asks tbat t'is Township work witn Township of Scarborough to have untidy yards of residents on west side of Port Union Road cleaned up. Referred to Mr. Ashton. The following PERSONS. on MOTION. were heard: l. MOVED by Mr. Newman. seconded by Mr. Campbell, that Mrs. K. Williamson be heard. CARRIED Mrs. K. Williamson presented a petition of 146 names who ask that a municipal water main be laid on Fairport Road between Concession 1 and Concession 2, Pine Ridge Road, Spruce Hill Road, Stroud's Lane and Concession 2 between Fairport Road and Spruce Hill Road. as water table is low, and there have been a number of cases of Hepatitis. Mr. Poulsson gave a "Guesstimate" of cost of such work: Total cost. $24l.000.00. Assessable frontage. 29,000 feet. Deþenture. 20 yrs. @ 6%. 50' lot. $36.25 per year. 100' lot, $72.50 per year. If paid by cash, 50' lot. $ 4l5.50 lOO' lot. $ 831.00 RESOLUTION NUMBER 59~6~ MOVED by Mr. Wank, seconded for tenders for furnace oil by Mr. Campbell, that the Clerk call for the usual locations. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 60/64 MOVED by Mrs. McPherson. seconded by Mr. Spang. that Arthur Carlton be granted full rights for reclaiming serapin the Township garbage dump for the year 1964 for the sum of $75.00. CARRIED - 3 - RESOLUTION NUMBER 6l/6~ MOVED by Mr. Newman. seconded by Mr. Spang. that the Council declare Lot l.Plan 456. Roll No. 27-67 a dangerous yard. this property belongs to Mr. J. C. Dorrans, of Calgary, Alberta. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 62/6~ MOVED by Mr. Waring. seconded by Mr. Newman, that permission be granted to Bay Ridges Garden Club (Mr. Steinmetz) to plant trees along the Township easement in Bay Ridges. subject to the approval of the Township Engineer. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 63/&4 MOVED by Mr. Waring, seconded by Mr. Wank. that the exchange hot plate, recently purchased, in order present Township office electrical fittings. Mr. Spang. seconded by Mrs. McPherson. moves that By-Law Number 2870 to set 1964 fees to spray cattle under the Warble Fly Act. be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read. ~r. Pearce BY-LAW NUMBER 2792 Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Spang, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the Township of Pickering to authorize the borrowing of $48,350.43 upon debentures for Public School purposes, and that same now be read a first time. Mr. Waring, seconded by Mr. Newman. moves that By-Law Number 287~ for the collection of taxes for the year 1964, be now read a second time. and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read. Mr. Waring. seconded by Mrs. McPherson. moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-Law Number 287~ be adopted. and that the said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED I Councillor Warin~ stated that certain residents of Bay Ridges wished ~o improve the subdivision by planting trees on the street. See Resolution No. 62/64. ~GREED there be a Road.
