BROUGHAM
An Emergent meeting of Council was held on FRIDAY, the Fourteenth day of
December, 1951, commencing at 1:30 o'clock in the afternoon.
PRESENT: Reeve W. H. Westney, in the Chair,
Councillor C. A. Balsdon
Councillor M. B. Burk and
Councillor F. E. Zinkie.
The following correspondence was read:
1. Hydro-Electric Power Commission, advising that the yearly cost of six
lights on Harwood Drive would be $66.00. Clerk advised that business
men on Harwood Drive did not wish to pay 60% of this cost as they are
of little value to them.
2. The Ontario Municipal Board, giving approval for $32,000.00 4 3/4%
fifteen year debenture.
3. Canadian Bank of Commerce Bond Department advising that we could
expect $96.50 to $99.00 for this debenture issue at present.
$. Building Inspector asked for Council's advice re building of a
Roman Catholic Church without foundation at Fairport Beach.

MOVED by/Zinkie, seconded by Mr. Balsdon, that the Eorporation of Ajax
and The Hydro-Electric Power Commission be advised that as the business
men of Harwood Drive are not agreeable to paying 60% of cost of six
lights on Harwood Drive between Ajax and No. 2 Highway, Council will
not be responsible for their maintenance. CARRIED
MOVED by Mr. Burk, seconded by l~r. Zinkie, that the Road Superintendent
be advised to take up Board walk on roadside between Ajax and No. 2
Highway, as many boards are rotten and may be dangerous to pedestrians.

MOVED by Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Burk, that the Building Inspector
1-~st on a proper foundation for proposed Roman Catholic Church at
Fairport Beach. CARRIED
BY-LAW NUMBER 1881
Mr. F. Zinkie, seconded by Mr. M. B. Burk, moves that By-Law Number
1881 to issue Debentures for the purchase of fire-fighting equipment, a
Fire Hall and a lot for same in the South-West part of the Township of
Picketing, be now read a third time and passed; that the Reeve and Clerk
sign the same, and that the seal of the cG~oration be affixed thereto.
CARRIED this Fourteenth day of December, 1951.

AGREED that Debenture for $32,000.00 be not sold until after January 14th
meeting.
MOVED by Mr. Zinkie that this Council do now adjourn. CARRIED
